Gday,
Long time landcruiser owner first time 80 owner!
I have always been a huge fan of the rugged 80 series trucks - their shape, simplicity and bullet proof drive train have always been a huge draw card which made me think 'one day I'll buy one, before they're all gone' well that day didn't come soon enough!
So, I sold my trusty 75 series ( ) and purchased a bone stock 80 to build up to do a trip up to Cape York and everything in between!
The old girl was still sitting on split rims, owned by a farmer and ex diesel mechanic in rural Victoria Australia.
Part time 4x4 with 1hz & 280 thou on the clock, barn doors, bull bar and water tank made it a perfect blank canvas. Oh, and a factory fitted Thomas PTO just to top things off.
Photo of the old girl on the original add
And the obligatory photo of it sitting in the driveway.

After a good clean, the slow build begins to make her a reliable tourer..
Next up, drawers.

Then some shoes. 33 -22 r16s

Followed by some flares to cover that wheel poke.

And a 2" lift with koni 88s all round and rated front and rear coils. Rears were custom to carry 500kgs for touring purposes.

New free wheel hubs were also installed as the originals had a bit of slop. Also did the timing belt, water pump, cam oil seal & tensioner for good measure.

And then through prior experience, I ordered a little hair-dryer to help maintain speed upon hitting sight hills.
Hi flowed CT26, auber instruments egt and boost gauge matched to a custom 3 inch straight through. Its not even loud!
