what is up with all the scammers
Unless I'm mistaken, this rig was on ebay a couple weeks ago and the bidding was up over 6K. I also think it sold on the ebay auction. (Reserve was met) these are the exact same pictures as that auction
Same pictures used in craiglist ads in Columbia SC area as well...
this ad was on C/L all over the country. total scam
There was a similar one last week, same price, different pix, different color. probably the same scammer.

they will usually propose to use an escrow service like "Paypal Escrow" or "ebay escrow" or "ebay buying service" or some such BS as that. None of these exist. they are fake escrow services set up and controlled by the scammer. So some gullible people (yes, they are out there, I happen to know one) will send their $$ to this "escrow" service, and that's it. No car, no money back, you've been scammed.

Yep. I responded to two different ads in the last few weeks. I asked "when and where can I inspect and drive this vehicle?". The response was a poorly written tale of woe about why they had to sell it, how perfect it was, that it would be shipped to me for that price, that they were registered with "eBay Payment Services", and all they needed was my address and phone number to get things started. It was obvious from the wording that even though the tale of woe was completely different that they were written by the same scammer. It was also obvious that American English was not the writer's first language.
Hugh Heifer has a neighbor who was recently taken by one of these scammers. An older couple who know nothing about the Internet. They lost $7K I think.

Here is what i got back, defiantly a scam. Using the military on this, what an a******.
"My name is Steven Ray, The 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ80 has 91,500 miles, automatic transmission,and the year is 1996.Clear title, Excellent condition.Regular maintenance and oil changes were done in time. No accidents or flood damage. The engine is a 6 Cylinder, 4.5 LITER and runs very well.The price is $2800. I am in military service, curently based in United Kingdom at a NATO military base. The vehicle is here with me, I tried to sell it here but nobody is interested in an US registered vehicle especially because of the high costs to register it in this country. Since it is registered in US you won't have to pay anything it has a clear US title, no lien. I want to tell you that we will use eBay in this transaction in order for both of us to be 100% protected and insured by them. eBay will supervise this transaction so there won`t be any problems.I can have it shipped from here by an US Air Force cargo plane so there won't be any additional shipping costs. Also I can arrange for a truck to transport the car to your home address.The shipping will take up to 5 days, depending on your location and you will have a 5 days period of inspection/test period. The car will arrive with all the papers and documents required for registration and the keys. somewhere on this huge web, I read a story about a guy who actually got one of these scammers to part with some serious bux. He actually scammed the scammer.
It involved sending a package COD to the scammers home country. I forget the details, I read it about 2 years ago, but it was sweet revenge.
