didn't think the Park pawl would allow that much rolling. Indeed something to look at. ...

I doubt that it was locked, so it was 1 wheel drive, if one tire slid the others will roll. I bet there was no damage to the park pawl, should have no problem taking that hit on dirt.

Fortunately, engines in VW bugs are located in the rear, no?
Ooh, you talk about THAT bug! :)
And so, did your bumper budge at all from its bearings?

that front receiver does not look like it'll handle too much weight btw.

A lot of people use them not just for cradle winches, but for moving around boats, trailers, etc. In which case, they don't require much structural integrity.

Indeed a front hitch is AWESOME for pushing around trailers. The short wheel base ones get a wee bit squirrely at around 45MPH :steer: :steer:

i say you get her back and put it drive and finish off the bug. Hey you had to test the tranny for damage anyway !! if anything it would have made her hood look better. actually that bug would look better with a landcruiser squashing it anyway !! ARBs RULE

Man, I hate to see her with your kids going out for Pizza. She probably plow over everything.

That sucks!

Get the vehicle inspected for any and all damage that may not be apparent. My jeep was rear ended two weeks ago parked in front of the house. Looked OK at first. Then I tried to open the rear door.... bent frame.

I feel a sudden acceleration law suit, ala Audi, comming on.

I think that "accidentally" happened when one of us came over to help work on your 80.

Those FJ auto transmissions are pretty tuff, my youngest daughter moved the lever from drive to reverse while the vehicle was moving and the vehicle slowed down very rapidly. Luckily I was next to her and pulled the lever back to drive (scary!!):whoops:

That looked like the bug on my windshield!:flipoff2:
Sorry, couldn't help myself.
If it drives and parks well, you are probably OK. A little roll and then skid is to be expected. Mine rolls that far when I put it in park on a slope anyway.
I remember being 16 or so. I once failed to look in the mirror. I backed my Vega into Dad's 40, now Kevin's, at some force. The rear bumper was fubared, and the 40 just sat there laughing!
