Ha! Yep, very true about the 75 mph. What did you do in CoMo? Small world. Good call on the '04s. That would certainly give me a lot more search options.

Our '06 is much better battling the wind IMO. Also the cabin is a lot more quite in those situations, obviously newer, better built, newer etc. Love the 100 on the road. 80 is great too but choice is clear when there is a distance to travel.

I'll PM you.

My '99 does fine, I drive it on the interstate daily. When the wind gusts it requires about the same amount of correction as my Mazda 5 did (small mini van), and a bit more correction than a sedan. In other words, I'd say it's average. I don't consider it annoying or difficult. Even with a 16' canoe strapped to the roof, I can hardly tell a difference at 70mph.

I've driven it 8 hours from Florida to Tennessee, and loved it. Rides at 80mph just fine (fuel consumption aside). It's a great road trip vehicle.

Stock everything and worn out @ 177k through near blizzard conditions in WY when I bought it - didn't notice the wind much then.

Still don't really ever notice the wind. Now with new suspension and extra weight of bumpers. It's always a howling crosswind between Boulder and Golden and it handles like a dream.

One thing I've also noticed about the 100 is the number of miles I can drive and still feel relatively normal. I driven 1000 miles a day several times before and not any more tired than I would be at the end of any other long day. Comfortable vehicle.

We have an '06 100 (2" lift, 33s) and an MDX (stock of course) in the garage. We take the 100 on EVERY road trip. It's just nicer. I agree with @TXLX100 - even very long trips aren't taxing. Man... this is making me want to take a trip.

I've owned lots of SUVs/trucks - Tundra, couple of 80s, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Yukon XL, and now a 100 series. I would say that the hundy is the smoothest riding and quietest SUV/truck I've ever driven on the highway, however, as far as stability, especially in strong cross winds, I have to admit that the Yukon XL did better, being heavier and with a longer wheelbase.

Drove to Colorado from Atlanta and back in my '98. Quieter and smoother than my newer model minivan even with loaded ARB bags on the roof. We got rid of the minivan.

I've driven our '04 LX for 16 hours on the highway in one sitting and not been that tired.

The only issue with ours on the highway is I'm running 295/75-16s (and OME suspension), great off-road but a wee bit too much sidewall flex on the highway in crosswinds. No wind it's great, crosswinds (I-25 south of Albuquerque for instance) require constant driver attention.

Our old 100 on 285s and OE suspension was entirely different. Rock solid in cross winds.

However I'm happy with the increased side wall flex as I don't do that much highway driving. If I did I'd swap up to 17s or 18s and I'm sure it would be a world of difference.

The 5 speed in the '04 is beyond epic...it makes 80mph cruising really effortless.

Hope that helps.

My 80 does wonder on the hwy with no wind, so add cross winds and it's a part time job keeping it in the lane. 99 100 tracks straight and true, cross winds will push it, but it's predictable. 2004 100 very similar to the 99. I think the 18" wheels on the 2004 add some stability with shorter sidewalls. And no issue with MFD here. I too think the 5 speed is a big improvement over early 4 speeds.
