This may be an outfitting question but this relates specifically to an 80 dash so I thought I might try here first.

If it must be moved, then so be it.

I just bought this gps...

Now, without drilling into the top of the dash, any ideas on mounting?

Has anyone mounted one of these or similar?

I thought maybe just behind and below the rear view on the window but seems a little cluttered.

The base is a little too large to go down on the shifter console.

Input would be greatly appreciated.

That's a nice unit! I have mine mountedon the glass down towards the dash with a suction mount (Garmin 3600 IQ) so I think it is smaller than yours. I have tried it in various positions but I keep comming back to the lower part of the windshield as it is easier to view for me and doesn't block my high vision. I had it on the sun roof (inside)for a while and it worked great till I got the full roof rack. Then it blocked the reception. The weather option is really nice on yours, I've never seen that before.

I used a piece of metal wire hooked to the louvers of one of the air vents...

Bull - what are the extra's on the factory map light console?

Well.. if you don't smoke, or use the ashtray.. here is the solution I use:

Really simple, 2x4 cut, carved, and painted to fit all the way into the ashtray mount.

bull- that's a pretty slick install! Do you know what type of detector that is? Valentine One remote?

Mounted in a 40th aniversary. Required flipping of the screen, its out of the way and blends in. I remote mounted the antenna.

I like that, how did you flip the screen?

Did you have to open the unit up?

I got a universal cel phone swivel mount. Put the stick-on button on the GPS and the bracket anywhere in the truck that works. Nice part is that the unit also fits on my hip when walking around.

I flipped it because I am anal and I liked the fit better when it is flushed against the roof. It also didn't hang down in front of the mirror. I see you changed the mirror so you obviously did not have that problem.
G

While you were in there you should of flipped the button rubbers to read right side up.

Looks slick! I like it
