ok ok...it's a wrecked 80 ('93 maroon; no locker). only damaged appears to be on th e front pass. side of the vehicle. It's at a dealership in Sterling, IL. The vehicle has been at the back of the dealer for about 6 mos. I finally stopped in last week to inquire. I was told that a lot of peeps have stopped in to ask if it was for sale, but none were convincing enough to actually sway the manager.

I mentioned MUD and our beloved group, and with the guy I was speaking with being Aussie, he was able to relate.

Anyhow the situation is this, the dealer is considering buying the rig back from the insurance company. I was told they'd be buying it back for around $2500. Now the vehicle damage was cause by failing brakes, and while moving at about no more than 5 mph, it hit a wall (so i was told). He wanted to know how much I'd consider offering.

I wanted to pass this along to any here that might be looking to part it out or rebuild. In any case, how much would any of you guys offer on something like this if you were interested.

For a buy back from an insurance company it will have a salvage title. Not really a problem if it doesn't bother you but I don't know how it would affect insuring it.

If I were looking to buy another rig, I would probably offer $2500. I think the drivetrain and axles alone would be more than enough to get back the initial purchase.

What dealership in Sterling? The only one I know of there is the Benz dealer.

It's a Ken Nelson Nissan. Which Sterling are you thinking of? The one I'm talking about is in between Dixon and Rock Falls Illinois. There aren't any high end dealers out this way.

The Sterling I'm thinking of is off the Sugar Grove exit on 88. It's a small Benz dealership that mainly deals in used Benz's. I think its called Star Motors or something like that. They may not be an official dealer anymore but they were back in the 90's I think.

I think he is feedin you bs on the buy back price. it is probably closer to $250.....ALOT closer!

mmm slow roll.

hard to fix, perfect wheeling rig

Anthony,
Verify that it is indeed a '93, because judging by the wheels it looks to be a 91/92. Just see if it has the 4.0 or the 4.5, if it's the 4.0 just walk away...

ya, after lookin at that a bit more carefully, i think there was more involved than just a wall goin less than 5 mph.

My plan is really to part this vehicle out:D

it rolled and slid, or maybe was dragged. but maybe at 5mph. could have been a slow roll.

ice+curb+wierd angle+most peoples driving abilitys=that.

but its prolly a good truck and is worth a grand if its the fzj.

another thing, if insurance owned the truck, then it wouldn't be sitting at the dealer, no? it has been sitting there wrecked for at least 6 mos. i would imagine the ins. company would have taken it.

It looks as if went through a wall ,it looks like damage was not a roll as per pictures. Its not that bad to fix the damage. It sounds like they bought the truck back from insurance.Be careful it sounds like they are trying to pull a fast one.
