I'm not so sure I want to attempt this teardown...

Can anyone recommend a trustworthy shop or fair dealership?

I don't want these guys working on it >>> :bounce::bounce2:

Where's New River?
My buddies shop in Tucson can fix you up. Calypso 326-5358

If you want to tackle it and it takes 2 days or less we can knock it out in my driveway.

New River is just North of Phoenix.

How kind of you to offer. Have you done this teardown before? I work in central Phoenix and live slightly north. Which milk carton do you live in? Are you sure Tortuga will not be jealous? :D

I'm in Tucson and have not done this before, but I ain't scared.

Big D says you're north of PHX so I probably wouldn't be much help.

Thanks anyway... :D

I have a leaking rear main seal on my rig also. Let me know if you find a decent shop for the repair. I am in the arrowhead area.

I chose to bring mine down to Tucson and have Calypso Auto do the repair. Ron the owner seems like a great guy and has his sons working on the today and tomorrow. They are worthy of the recommendation...

It turns out I do not have a bad rear main seal. There are 3 seals involved in sealing the crank and pan. I failed the inner and outer pan seal. I have no idea what that means, but I trust that Ron does...:D

You are correct! I just paid a grand to cleanup the whole mess... It would have been $800 for just the rear main seal, but apparently I'm special...

Hmm, that's a boat load of money. It seems that dropping the tranny to do the rear main seal for $800 is easier than doing the arch seal for $1000

What's troubling is that the rear main seal will begin to leak, just like mine, eventually and it's a shame that the two projects cant be combined into one.

Well, maybe I should clarify.

We went in with the intention of replacing the rear main seal for $800, but then learned of the arch seal issue, so both were done for $1000...

very nice. You're good to go for 20 years!
