I have come across a complete 79 series rear end for sale locally and the price was right.

I would like to put a full floater under my FJ40, and this axle seemed to be the ticket.
I went out to look at the axle and found it was the 5 lug pattern, so I didn't buy it. But I am doing some research to see what I can find as far as interchangeability, etc.

Is there any way to convert these to the 6 on 5.5 pattern that my FJ40 uses?
Swap an 80 series rear hub and then redrill the drum for the 6 on 5.5 pattern or get a different drum?

Also, I have a 4.88 rear diff I built, that uses a lock right. Will this bolt into the housing and will the axle shafts work, or are these a different spline count? Different bolt pattern on the differential?

Thanks!

the 5 bolt is completely different from the 6 bolt, center diffs, wheels brakes etc.
if you want a 6 bolt 75 series rear diff then come buy mine.
cheers

OK. Sounds like its going to be more effort than its worth in the end.

Guess I will either get the RuffStuff pucks or have Diamond build me one.
Thanks!
