That was my first thought, but I didn't want to rain on your parade. Gald to hear she's running, definitely a step in the right direction!!

For Christmas I received a new brake master cylinder and a new clutch master cylinder. My mom bought me a new Trollhole carb. :) I also received a few gift cards so I can order some new brake/clutch lines. Now I just need to find some time to install this stuff.

floor/fire wall pics

Here some pics of the floor that needs to replaced. Spent the day changing the fluids in the front diff, tranny and tcase.

I have video of me driving the 40 but for some reason I can't upload it on to mud.

That rot isn't too bad. A decent welder should be able to fix that up for you.

Well darin is going to fix it for me. I do not have welding skills. Always wanted to learn but I think I don't the patients for it. The raptor liner will be a nice touch to the interior.

Im hoping the grand unavailing will be spring tide ride!

I'm looking into different power steering options.

Any sugestions?

Im going to keep the vehicle sprung under with 33 12.50 maybe 35. I plan on changing the suspension in the future as well.

Will the kit that Georg? Orangefj45 sells work for me?
What about the ironpig kit?

Thanks for the help

If you go the minitruck box route, it will work for 33's, anything bigger the IH8MUD consensus says go Saginaw box. The drawback of the minitruck vs saginaw is also the fact that you have to keep the exact steering (geometry) setup. Saginaw gets rid of one arm... Saginaw you have to do some drilling through the front frame crossmember. Ask Ramon he's done it...

Georg's bracket replaces the original LC steering box so the minitruck box can be bolted to the same spot.

In either case you'll need to source a saginaw power steering pump and bracket(also made by Georg)..

I used Goerg's parts to do my steering swap. I run 33x12.5's and it works fine on that size. The hardest thing about the swap on my rig was to find a PS pump bracket that would work. I have a SBC400 and older type engine mounts, so I could not put the pump down low. I eventually found a bracket out of an old Pontiac that worked perfectly and mounted the pump up high. Sure beats manual steering!

Saginaw, IMO, is the way to go. I got my steering box off of fleabay (back when I used it some) for like $70. I knew I was going to run SOA and 4x4Labs hysteer, so that was a no brainer for me.

Piece of advice - I swore I'd never want bigger than 35's on my rig, and I've already surpassed that notion. If you really plan on wheeling this puppy, I am a fan of doing things once. Saginaw is really good and lots of parts are stocked at local parts stores.

For a steering wheel, I have one out of a 4-Runner that works perfectly. Has the Toyota badge on it and required VERY LITTLE modification to work. Should be able to grab one out of a junk yard very easily. Don't even think about a smaller wheel until you ditch the Armstrong steering for power.

I say go with a 60 series P/S box with a Saginaw pump. The 60 series box allows you to mount behind the radiator core support, saving room up front for winch / bumper options, and is very stout.

That is a good setup. I may wind up with something similar (if not full hydro) one day if I ever decide to link the front axle. Allows you to get rid of a lot off the front which would no longer be needed for leaf springs and a ps box mount.

Saginaw Scout box is the same idea with a bit more oomph.

Thanks for the info guys. Im sure I will ask u questions this weekend.

What's a ball park fiqure going with what ramon was talking about?

Ballpark Figures

If you do the saginaw up front:

Steering Box - between $75-200. You can shop around and same some coin here because there are a lot of models/years that used the box you want.

Hysteer - not completely necessary, but if you EVER want to go SOA, go ahead and do all the steering now. 4x4 Labs kit - $550

Frame Mount kit - $75 - 200. I bought my plates from Poser, and they seem to work fine. One of these days I'll get around to reinforcing the hole in the front xmember

Steering shaft and pillow block bearing - again, I went the cheap route with a solid rod and weld on u-joints which cost about $75. Upwards of $250 if you go all out Flaming River slip joint. (I'd suggest some sort of slip joint on a truck that sees any real street time).

Power steering Pump and hoses - about $100

Pitman Arm - $100

Soooooo anywhere from $450 up to $1300. Big range, but depends on what route you want to go. Obviously, hysteer is a huge chunk of the larger figure.

Thanks ramon. Plus the install. This would something way out of my comfort level!

My problem with the current steering wheel is that my knees hit it when I shift. I bought seat extender brackets. It made a little difference. So I figured buy a smaller one and wouldn't have a problem.

I plan on buying some seats from iron pig soon. These seats recline so that could make a difference too!

But power steering is definetly in my future.

Install's not a problem. We could do a HAMOM for that and knock it out in a day easily.

Reminds me, Need my own HAMON soon to help cut down all these trees.

Say the word and I'm there.

Adam, we'll start to get an idea as to what needs to be modified when I come over. Should be able to make a pretty decent to-do list. Then we'll have a HAMOM to get it all taken care of.
