Restoring a 1978 FJ40. When I started taking on the Jump seats I found one was different and not complete. Pretty bad bottom half of the seat size did not match and a bent pipe with crappy aluminum base.

I just need one to match the one I have assuming it is a 1978. Hoping to find a deal!!!

Does your good one have a fold down leg on the bottom? I can see the support for the bumpers that rest on the fender well. First part of the 78 model (4/78) they had both a fold down leg and bumpers. Last part of the year only had the fold down leg. Prior to the 78 model they only had the bumpers. Telling you this so if you want a matched set you know what your looking for. I have a number of sets of short jump seats including the the first part of 78. My only single is the later 78 which does not appear to match what your good seat is.

Thanks for the input. I was wondering about this. My good bumper does not have legs. So my option is to find one without so I have two matching legs or get two with legs. I would prefer to get what is correct for my Cruiser, but not sure I can afford that right now.

How much are your sets?

I have brand new Spector off-road foam and covers available if you need some. Enuf for two seats without their crazy shipping charges.

Possibly one jump seat without leg as well. But not sure I want to split up a set of them right now.

Parts hunting is becoming a catch 22. Can't afford the parts now. When you can the price will have sky rocketed. Years ago FJ40 parts were valued far less than the CJ5 & CJ7 parts. At least today we can find parts from other markets. That doesn't apply to skort jumps since North America was about the only market that got the roll bar and because of that ofothe few that for short jump seats.

Let me know if your first option doesn’t pan out. When I was looking for my 77 several years back I scored 3. Each needed work, I ended up welding the hing attachment and powder coating two that went into the truck, still have one more. It needs the same TLC but should work fine. I’m in Austin so we could prolly find a mud ship to get it up there to you. I’m not looking for a big price tag and would welcome it getting to a good home.

PM if interested and I can dig it out and shoot some pics

Thanks, But already have the covers and foam. I'd be interested in seeing pics and price of your set of jump seats if that's not a problem.

I'd be very interested in seeing pics of what you have. If I need to I'll have some fabrication work done on the bottom half of what I have now. But yes please send pics. Thank you!
