78 FJ40 dual purpose project with title in hand that I started the conversion to a 5.7 Vortec from a 91 K1500 4x4. The motor is good and I bought a Howell stand alone wiring harness to ease plug n play. Also has a fresh rebuild 700r4 automatic that is installed ready to mate to Toyota minitruck transfer cases with Advance Adapters adapters but hasn't even had fluids run thru it yet so literally 0 miles since rebuild. I have 3 transfer cases to offer: doubled Toyota Mini truck boxes (stock 2.27 gears in both), Dana 300 twin stick needing a seals rebuild, and a 1980 3spd. Cruiser transfer case. If you're not crazy about the automatic..already mated to the Cruiser transfer case is a GM SM420 4 speed. I sold the original 2F Inline-6 already.
Truck has a full soft top and doors, soft half doors, windjammer and bikini half top and a full hard top and doors from a 1977 Cruiser with the rear hatch window. The tub has spray in bedliner from fire wall all the way to tailgate. Body is in really good shape with the minimal rust having been repaired and the rear corners have sheetmetal corner guards. Complete "family" roll cage and factory roll bar too if you wat to back to a stock look.
Factory seats and seatbelts in great condition
Complete bolt in FJ60 rear axle and a Toyota minitruck front axle. I have both front and rear 40 axles but parts sourced to complete my other rock crawler build.
What it needs to complete:
-Steering setup box and links (I was going to do the easy Saginaw GM version, but have a FJ60 steering box for it too. Has factory steering for now.
-Exhaust
-Gauges (factory will work, but not that accurate)
-Suspension is done. Front and rear springs both SOA converted with Ruff Stuff brackets, etc. Front springs outboarded an inch on both sides to accommodate an FJ60/mini truck front axle width. You would need to set pinion angles, etc and put back in the driveshafts
-tranny tunnel possible to be modified to whatever transmission/transfer case shifters combo you would go with
that's pretty much it except for some odds and ends to it. Could be completed in about 2-3weekends...I just need it gone to get on to next life stage.
I bought it about 2 yrs ago, went thru divorce and its turned into a garage ornament..just moving on and need it gone. A friend is a pro mechanic that's done all drivetrain work, so it's done right.
Price is negotiable as to what all parts you want.
Everything with it-$7000 (price includes ALL parts, brackets, etc)
if you choose to not want things like hard doors and top or other components that will drive down the price and I'm willing to help with any questions, etc best I can, but rather get the whole thing gone.
