well after working perfectly for 32 years i managed to break a front hub yesterday when we we out wheeling.
what years and styles will fit mine,
do they have to be the exact same hub on both sides,
does anyone out there have one or two the want to part with?
wombat:whoops:

I have the Warn style if you can't find any local to you
greyhound courier is about $12 for the ride over

Oh Vern!!!
I've got like four sets of Warn hubs! I think you can use the Warns. You have selectros right now, right? Of course, they're still in storage until we move into our house mid-November. I would certainly fire them your way for the 1/2 the shipping (and/or my VICruiser dues).:D
Hmmm, now that I think about it, I think you may need aisin hubs. When you look at the end of your birf, is there a hole in the end for a 10mm bolt? If so, you can use the Warns. If not, I think you have to go with Aisins.
Good luck!
I miss you guys!

i have lots of warn hubs....some in better shape then others....no aisins that im looken to sell tho

good eyes stumpy, they are the old school selectro hubs,i like them because they are real easy to engaage in any weather even with thick gloves on.
2 questions--are left and right different and could you have a warn on one side and a selectro on the other side.

Go with the Warns

Vern,

Warn premium hubs will work. I have a set if you can wait a few weeks, you can have 'em for shipping. But I'm sure there is someone in the club who has a few spares and would be willing to give you one or two.
From the FAQ for 76-80 FJ40's:
Stock Locking Hub.......Outer Diameter......Flats Distance ......Stub Length......Outer Splines
Warn................................90.5.....................84.5..................188....................30

It's funny, from '81 and up, the Warns were a dealer installed option. Also, they shortened the birf inorder to be able accomodate either hub.

good luck Vern!
Cheers-
