Asking for a friend..... ;)
I was trying to verify how similar/different the internals of the cab are between the 75 and 78 troopies.
Tried through the Toyota BRM, but the system only throws the newer style cabs at me.
The reason for the inquiry, is to verify if a 78 roll cage would fit inside the 75 and what would be the implications, if any.

To the best of my understanding, the 78 is identical to the 75, from the firewall backwards, but not a 100% sure.

Would appreciate any feedback on the issue

Will post any new reliable info if comes up.

Hello,

The parts catalog says the same quarter panel was used in 75 (especially late model) and 1999 to 2006 78 Series. Ditto for the A pillar, the roof rail and the floor panel. Or at least the same part numbers show up.

This would suggest that the dimensions are similar between the two models.

Same same. Every accessory in a early troopie rear fits a new troopie rear.

Thank you for that tip.
I will try to compare the relevant part numbers of a few more parts and call it good.

I haven't thought of doing that, although I have done it before with A Mercedes rear axle parts, when company would not provide the desired gear ratio for a specific transmission and engine combination.
Looked up and compared all the bearings, oil seals, backing plates and brake parts around my desired parts.

Ended up with correct ring and pinion, but transmission computer would not agree to install the oem code for the new ratio....

That was around 5k usd thrown in the trash.....

Hello,

I am sorry to hear that. It adds to other stories I have heard/read about Mercedes/BMW computers/ECUs being very hard, or almost impossible, to deal with.

Regarding the 75/78 Series, the part numbers inquiry confirmed my impression that, over the years, 70 Series Land Cruisers have changed very little, if at all, from the windshield back.
