Anyone driven/owned a 75 series troopy and a cab chassis? Im interested in how much difference is the leg room or is it the same?
Im sure my 73 series had another inch or 2 of legroom than my 75 series does.

Im thinking of selling my HZJ75 ute and buying a HZJ75 low klm troopy with two private owners from new.
Its a 1500klm flight and a 22 hour drive back home ,Im hoping an old school mate who is a mechanic in the same town as where the troopy is,can have a look for me and save me a trip if its no good.
If all goes well I should be home by friday with a new to me landcruiser.:D

Pics if I get it .

I own a 75 series troopy and have driven many a 75 series ute belonging to customers when working on them. Definitely a greater range of seat movement in my troopy over the ute. I'm 185cm tall and happily do 6 hours non stop in my troopcarrier. Just my 2 cents worth.

Good luck with the troopy!

Everything has more seta adjustment than utes.

i have to agree, i have the pickup and the troopie sitting here.
the troopie has a bit more leg room from factory with the ability to be modified for more.
the ute is ... well ... permanent.

the downside to the troopie is:
more room inside the can = more noise
more room inside the can = harder to heat or cool
more room inside the can = more s*** you can store so usually more messy inside
more room inside the can = grease and smelly objects enter the front easier
the ability to see out the back is greatly reduced with the troopie.

the upside of the troopie:
just damn cool vehicle with tons of versitility.

Keep the Ute......you can always get medical remedies for the leg and back pain.:)

Hello Rosco,

Even a SWB has more leg space than a 75.

As Wayne said, it is a cool vehicle with tons of versatility.

Keep the ute for daily use and get the Troopie for long distance driving.

Just my two cents.

Thanks for the replies,it confirmed my thoughts that it would have more legroom.
Im going to chew on it for a day or 2.
A short notice one way air ticket is $300-$400 and Im not even leaving the state.
Im competing with the mining companies for a seat on the plane.

Dont really have the room to keep 3 vehicles and 3 motorbikes and I dont generally use my 75 series for driving around town.
So the troopie will be the long distance vehicle and my old Holden Commodore will be the daily driver

Easy option that satisfys crushers concerns, 79 cab! Much more comfortable leg room.

I missed my 73 series after I sold it.I liked the room in the back(and the leg room). I get pissed off with my dog on long trips in the 75 cab when she gets restless and its even worse with a passenger.

The troopie solves all the problems, except what to do with my slide on camper:hhmm:

Yeah ,I had a Ford van once which normally suffered these problems ,but mine was an ex police van and it had a partition in between which solved them.
Ive seen some clear flexible plastic ones with zips(like soft top windows) that keeps the heat in/out and some of the noise

more room inside the can = more s*** you can store so usually more messy inside
more room inside the can = grease and smelly objects enter the front easier

The mess invades the rear of the cab chassis ,its impossible to stop.No change.
My dog's farts stink where ever she is,maybe in the troopie it will be spread over a larger area and thus be diluted somewhat.
Or she can ride one side of the partition ,and me on the other.;)

the ability to see out the back is greatly reduced with the troopie.
On long trips I normally have the slide on camper on the back,so I can only see out the side mirrors.
So no change again

Yeah and I can lock up all my junk and sleep in the back.
The one Im considering has a platform about 600mm above the floor for sleeping on with home made storage boxes underneath and Ill probably put a fridge slide under there
The 1st owner was a gold prospector.
I was hoping to do a trip to either Tasmania or Darwin next year ,the last 2 places I have not visited in this country.

The troopie also has twin tanks, twin batteries ,bull bar and should have disc brakes all round
It has done 200000klms,not much for these.

"I get pissed off with my dog on long trips in my 75 cab" ......have you ever considered buying a chihuahua? After doing so even the 75 cab would appear huge.:D

Lose the commodore and drive the troopy daily ;) then even a trip to Woolworths is an adventure.

I really like the Commodore when I want to go somewhere fast and be comfortable. The Commodore is also on gas and cheap(when it running right )
My shopping centre also has tiny parking bays
