Hey Austin... after reading too many IH8 threads I've concluded that I need to replace my original looking (and bone dry) clutch master cylinder and the slave with Aisin components. Can i get Aisin locally?

Second, which model years share the common slave cylinder spec. with the '75? I'm seeing Aisin slaves for sale online that list 80-86 that look the same as mine?

Last, I see only one IH8 references suggesting OEM for the hydraulic line between these components, and I stumbled across the lower braided line by SOR. Any alternative or local option? I'll sleep better knowing that crud from the original line isn't contaminating the new slave.

Thank you,

Dave

i can get Aisin parts most of the time same day. but if you want to try some parts house's ask for the master & slave for a 1980 fj-40. they should have that year on record. also when ordering the master make sure you get the 3bolt master not the 2 bolt and the fj-60 / 4door won't work. it has to be for a fj-40 2 door.
good luck. let me know if i can help.

last year i replaced the original master on my 75. crazy it lasted that long.

I got my oem replacement from cdan. but sounds like Edwin would be faster.

Plenty of options, all of them good, including Edwin's generous offer to help.

I bought a clutch slave from Auto Zone a couple of years ago. It was less than half the price of an AISIN from C-Dan, came in a DuraLast box, and turned out to be an AISIN part. AZ doesn't manufacture parts, they re-package gear from other suppliers. Sometimes you get lucky. Lifetime warranty too.

Rock Auto is usually your cheapest option. They were the source for my clutch master earlier this year. Cost was under $40. It was packaged as a WAGNER but inside the box was an AISIN MC. They ship out of a Houston warehouse. Order on Monday and you'll have the parts by Thursday. No sales tax and cheapo shipping.

If you're determined to buy a Toyota part, from a Toyota supplier, call John Hocker at Sierra Toyota in Arizona. 888-340-8696. He's the parts manager and a long time Cruiserhead. Usually the same price as CDan, or cheaper. No sales tax and no ripoff on shipping.

Edwin is good at locating parts....

I just replaced mine about 3 weeks ago on my Oct 75'/ 1976 FJ40. I ordered the part from Vans AKA Carquest here in town. Called the store in the morning, got there in the afternoon. I think I paid ~$60 plus tax. I saw a few other places online that had the part for about $40. I personally needed the part right then so that is why I bought it from them. Cruisercorps has theirs on sale for about $50 right now.

Lots of options...

Thanks for all the replies. I inquired with Aisin about a local distributor via their website and immediately received a reply. They suggested Wholesale Parts Direct who quoted me $44 and $22 for the master and slave (respectively) and they had them to the North Austin location near the Burnett / Longhorn location by the following morning.

You did well. I haven't seen lower prices for AISIN clutch parts. IIRC I paid $23 for an AISIN slave from some outfit in CA, but after shipping it was closer to $30.

Glad I read this thread... I just picked up the Aisin clutch master & slave for my FJ60 for ~$68 out the door from Whosale Parts Direct in south Austin.
