For Sale- 1974 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

All stock, right down to the hub caps. Odometer shows 3600 miles, actual mileage is unknown but judging by the condition of this Cruiser it is not much. Head was removed to change the headgasket 20 years ago… and the job still isn't done! I bought it in its current condition for a project, but don't have the time now.

Still has the canvas straps on the rear jump seats and under the driver's seat. Tool bag is missing, but stock Toyota jack is still there. Missing the starter and valves, but came to me with an extra alternator for some reason. The rear hatch also has broken glass, but I have a whole rear hatch that I will include with this Land Cruiser. The dash is uncracked, as are all of the knobs on the dash. Has factory rear seat heater as well.

Some rust at the typical location at the rear, bottom of the tub. Otherwise only surface rust. This vehicle is from the Nevada desert and has aged exceptionally well. Drivetrain is a 2F engine, four speed transmission, "four speed" transfer case, and drum brake axles. Also has factory manual steering, but if you know Cruisers that you probably already know all of the specifications.

If you are looking for a rockcrawling vehicle, please look elsewhere. I want to sell this Cruiser to someone who will restore it to its original glory. $4000 OBO. Vehicle is located in Reno, NV, where you are welcome to come look at it. Already loaded on the trailer, can be delivered for $1 a mile from Reno.

Sale fell through. Allan if you are still interested let me know and we can try to figure out logistics to get it to the East Coast.

I am leaving for the Chile Challenge tonight and will be away from the computer for the rest of the week, but I will respond to PMs and this thread when I return.

So the engine has been open with the head off for 20 years? I'm interested, but worried that the engine is probably unsaveable economically--probably frozen solid after all that time. Probably the tranny too, possibly the wheel bearings, etc if it hasn't run or moved in two decades. Drop me a line when you get back.

David it is hard to say with the engine, but "economically" it would probably be better just to toss another engine in. If you want a resto with matching numbers this block could certainly be saved but you would have to go through the engine. I don't see any evidence that there is anything wrong with the rest of the drivetrain, there isn't a single leak or scratch but I haven't opened anything up either so it is hard to tell.

Will you sell the trailer too?

Sure, everything has a price. :D
