Well, I got a quote for shipping to the Melbourne airport (cheaper than to your door) The shipping price does not include Duties, Taxes and Destination Handling fees. For one skid plate, shipping is (ready for it?) $315 CDN.

However, I also got a price for sending 3 skid plates in the same package, which brings it to $454 (about $151 each) Still a bit steep, but at least the shipping isn't more than the part!

Well fellas, let me know what you figure.

I would be up for it if others down here want to go in to ship together.

And if it would fit an HZJ78.

Any idea how to check if it will fit an HZJ78 (1HZ engine, R151F gearbox, HF1A transfer)? Could you PM me some dimensions to check or something?

I am still keen, lets see how many we can get happening, so we can reduce postage.

Hi Simon,

I'll take some dimensions and pictures and send them along for you to check. Other thing you could do if your truck has the stock tin skid plate, and you know someone with a 70, 71, 73 or 74, take both plates off and put them on top of each other. If they're the same we're in business!

Thanks Jason.

Here are some photos of my transfer and standard skid plate.

I don't think your's is going to fit.

Your plate seems to have an angle at the front, to possibly fit a bend/angle in the chassis rail.

My chassis rail bottom surface is flat from the crossmember back.

Here are some photos...

Hi Simon,

Yeah, the 70 series plate that I've made won't work on your truck. The flat frame rails are more like on an 80, but then there are other differences so that one won't work either. Pretty tough to measure up your truck and get it right from this far away! I don't know if there's even a truck like yours in Canada, let alone local that I could measure. Bummer.

Thanks anyway Jason, after having a look under my truck I figured it wasn't going to work.

And yes, pity there isn't any trucks like my Troopy over there, as I would be keen for one of your plates.

Will have to get one custom made down here.

There was a place that was making them, but by the time I got around to getting one recently they had stopped making them, and had thrown out the jig for it.

Do you have any photos of the 80 series plate up on the web that I could have a look at?

Thanks.

And sorry Ben, doesn't look like I can get one along with yours, to help out with shipping costs.

Good luck in getting one made locally. Really the biggest trick is figuring out the angles to make it clear everything, and maintain a low profile.

You can check out the 80 series skid here: (I don't have pics of the 70 series plates up there yet...)Cruisin Off Road

Cheers!

OK, So who's keen to get some of these sent over to AUS? the more the better?

How did you derive the transfer being HF1A?

Aren't the R151Fs equipped BF1A, or split case?

If not and there's an R151F/HF1A mating, can you provide any specifics on the vehicle (like VIN) to further research, because I find nothing that shows this.
