Hey guys - I was recommended to this site from a different board. A friend of mine who knows nothing about vehicles has a 1972 fj40 that recently broke down. Long story short it ended up in my garage. The truck has been converted to fuel injection from an 89 Chevy s10 as well as HEI ignition. I replaced the fuel pressure regulator and it ran great for about a month. Broke down again. This time it had a bad intake valve on #1 and we are waiting for the head to get back from the shop. He was told the engine is from a 1974 when he bought it. BTW - great info on here for adjusting the valves. I know nothing about these trucks, so I have a couple questions. Please don't flame me for the 1st - I searched this for a while, and I know it is asked all the time, but couldn't find what I needed. Does anyone have a picture of where the timing marks are on this truck? I know it is supposed to be above the starter back by the flywheel, but I can't find it. Main problem being that the truck is only used for off-road and never cleaned, so it is covered in dried mud. A picture would be great if anyone has one. Question #2 - What are the torque specs and sequence for the head, rocker arm assembly, and intake/exaust manifolds. TIA to anyone who can help me out with this.
