71 FJ40 Wheel Backspacing ?

Hello all.. Looking for some advice. I have a 71 that I am doing a front disc conversion on using later model FJ60 outers. I am looking to puchase some new rims for this rig and was looking to go with 17" rims; however the ones that I want have a 4.84" backspacing. I know I am supposed to have a 3.5" on a 15" rim but I am wondering is this too much on the 17" rims? Anyone have any experience with this on the 17s?

They should fit but will look goofy under the fenders and the tires may hit the springs on the front end. 17's are harder to get in 3.5 in BS but you can find them. They usually cost more.
