Hi all, today I was buttoning up some work on my fj60 rear suspension. I walked by my 40 and thought something looked odd. I took a closer look and found what is pictured. The shock mount bolt seems to have shear off. Seems like it's the year of suspension work for me. I'm wondering what is the fix for this? Seems everything is welded to the axle. While finishing the 60 i thought about it and figured i could weld the same thread bolt or all-thread in it's place, but im not sure if this is the best method. Anyone have experience with this or know of a good fix? I appreciate the help!

I bent my front shock mount jumping dunes at Pismo, didn't break though.
I used two shock mount tabs after that, sandwiched the shock between the two.
You can buy those tabs lots of places, maybe Ruff Stuff?

New welded tab would be best but If you had an old shock tower you could could drill out the tab and reutilize the tower pin. I haven't put any real use on this so it's not proven to hold up but could a fix of sorts.

Also those Rancho shocks are really stiff which may have contributed to the shock mounting bolt failure.

Thanks for that, definitely something to consider to avoid welding. At least for awhile or until i can source the weld on tab. Yeah the ranchos do seem stiff, it's a bumpy ride on my dirt road home, much more so than the 60. That, coupled with my road being extra rough right now probably did cause the failure. Ill likely be looking into new shocks at some point as well, I have been wanting to replace them for awhile.

Specter sells used and new reproduction shock tower pins. Number 25 on this page...
