Hi all.
Ive been searching for a 70's era 2 meter mobile ham radio for a Clementine.
What are some of the more reliable mobile radios from back then? Ive been searching ebay, But there are so many I dont know what brand would be better than another.
Yes, It needs to be from the 70's, Why? I will reveal that later.
Thanks for any options you can relay.
If you have a usable radio please feel free to PM me.
Thanks

The product user reviews section at eham.net may provide some of the information you're looking for. It covers a good number of the radios that have been manufactured.

I was heavily into 2M radio back in the mid-70s, when repeaters where new and something called AutoPatch was the way you made phone calls from your car, using a homemade oscillator box built out of parts from Radio Shack and a keypad scavenged from a touch-tone phone. Back then, it was a dual between G-E and Motorola for mobile radio, most 2M rigs were converted cop radios. There was a small control head mounted under the dash, then a big heavy unit bolted to the floor of the trunk. You wanna run a different frequency? You had to have crystals custom-cut then manually swap them in and out of the radio.

Those radios were big, heavy, and sucked a lot of power, but they would take a beating.
