Can someone point me to some info on the 70 series Land Cruiser. They look pretty cool and looking to aquire one in Florida (US). Would it be possible to import/buy one to the US? Are they still being produced or do I have to buy a used one?

Hey Newb, Alex has her 70 in the Vehicles for sale section. Some of the body panels need some massaging but otherwise appears nice.

Welcome

Got some sites i go to and just get some general info on them? Engine Size Options? General options (AC, Auto Windows, etc...)? Or is this just the best place to get some info? I have about a billion questions on this vehicle.

Hey Newb.
I run a LJ70 in Australia & so far fits what I do fine.
Mine has a 2LTE engine (2.4 Turbo Diesel with EFI) & is a slug when it comes to power, but it does what I want to do in relative comfort.

Not sure on US regs on importing, but mine was imported from Japan to Aust b4 I bought it & my understanding is that once imported, it has to meet some compliancing regs before you can register it for road use.
If only for off road use, IMO there should be no problems.

Pretty old post but current info if you are still interested

Hi,

the only 70 series that are technically allowed in the US are ones that were originally sold in Canada. These were sold in Canada from 1985 - 1987 the 70 series was first produced in 1985 as the replacement for the 42 series (more so the BJ42) since all 70 series in Canada were Diesels.

There are about 1 dozen or so 70 series in the US that I am aware of, I have 3 of them, and know about 5 others with them. There are however some BJ74 series that made it into the US (I think 2 of them) but the titling was either loop hole foreign owner allowed to bring it in.

want more information on 70 series, check out my website:

Cool! I found the 70's under the MACHO model name. There's truth in advertising for you. I wonder why Toyota doesn't sell this model in the US? Lots of nice rigs for sale, many with "nunca fue rustiqueado"!
