I need inspiration for a 70 Series roof rack. I can't decide if I want a full length roof rack or a partial roof rack (back half of roof only) that would be accessible from a rear ladder. Thoughts and photos would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have a moon roof that has to be factored into the equation.

Charles, I'm looking at making two racks for the 70.

1) Perimeter rack with moon/sun roof cutout provision (if client wants that feature) Flat, Expo or basket options as well.
2) "BakPak" rack that covers from the B-pillar--back (many don't want a ton of weight top side and need/want limited space for extra baggage)

Full length flat rack, maybe aluminum style you can move the slats/extrusions around for the moon roof. Front runner or the new Eezi-Awn K9 look killer on the 70s. Like used on the Expedition 7 trucks.

I leaning towards the "low profile" basket style roof rack, similar in design to what's on my HJ75. There are plenty of projects that are higher on the pecking order than the roof rack so I have plenty of time to consider all options. I appreciate the input thus far.

The 70 mounts are ready to go now for anyone wanting to build there own rack.... I also plan on a fiberglass top mount for that clientele base in the near future.

You are reading my mind. As the build winds down, I am now thinking about a rack system to mount a roof basket. Given the wacky configuration of 73/74 Series (drip rail above doors - not above side windows) on the FRP, looking for a "safe" light duty mount system. I have an aluminum rack (DiamondRax), but need a way to keep the sucker attached....

Please keep the RFP guys updated on what you might be able to offer.

Thanks :)

Charles: I have an INTI knock off that Jason prototyped for me. Funds won't be able to buy it for another 2-3 months. If you are interested, drop Jason a line and see if it will work for you.

I betcha it will.

Ive always been partial to flat racks for RTT installs. I had a baja rack on my nissan with the RTT and solar up front, will be recreating that with the troopy as it has more length to it. I went with an eezi awn k9 expo rack this time. My other choice would have been a Gobi, but would have had to customize.

The base is 52" x 80" add another 7" for the light bar. As Onur and most others know, I will build to suit within reason.

I have an ARB from my 73 that will eventually find its way onto the 74. New garage will have 10' doors so I'll actually be able to pull into the garage with it installed .... Something I cannot currently do.

Guys I really appreciate the replies. Obviously there are a lot of options to consider.
Thanks
Garage door clearance is also an issue. I need to do some measuring when I get home.
