I am planning a trip to Canada for a 10 week snowboarding holiday from January through to March next year.

Initial plans are for Revelstoke, Kicking Horse, Red Mountain, and Whitewater.

I was wondering if there were any 70 series available for rent in Canada.

Responses so far were...

NO 70's rentals in Canada, they are pretty rare up here and the newest one's on the road are 15 year old imports, mostly RHD from Japan. You can't rent a decent a 4x4 here the best you can get is stock Jeep or Ford Explorer, I don't know of any Toyota 4x4's for rent not even a 4runner. Also note rental cars will have all season tires and no chains, if it is snowing you might need to carry chains on the highway (not neccassarly use them but sometimes the RCMP block the highway and check for winter tires or chains). I have seen people putting posts on Craigslist looking for 4x4's for rent, I don't know how successfull they are but I doubt any private owner would rent thier cruiser.

Big Toyota SUV a pretty rare for rental here in Canada. Some Rav4...

There one near my home who rent FJCruiser.... but I'm 4000km aways from where you plan to go !

I was just thinking that something could be worked out
but Im in the wrong place.....
and dont have a 70

but I know this guy.....
of anyone I know he could hook you up with a 70
but he is kind of expensive....

now - if an 80 series would work.....
I could arrange to have a nice petrol 80 series with lockers delivered to your destination....
[edit]
for only $700 CAD a week (you prepay 10 weeks rental)

you pick the one you want on ebay, I buy it, title it, license it, transport it to your destination and rent it to you (you insure it).

after 10 weeks (when you are done with it) I put it back on ebay.

You could probably purchase one and sell it when you are done with it. If I understand it correctly in australia you have registration go with the vehicle. here the vehicle is registered to a person. I had friends who purchased a car back in the late 80's in australia, at least that is what he told me. it still had 6 months left on the plates. It will be more difficult to register one here. Maybe someone from b.c. can step up and make a comment or ask the autopac agent about it.
