I think what was misleading was the real Land Cruiser in the small picture at the top of his ad.

Seriously...that a really nice platform to build on. Even something as little as the OEM roll bars with the three point seatbelts in the back is a nice feature. I'm not crazy about the LJ front, but it's not bad. But...$16k is way too much for something with a 2LT under the hood...regardless of what other cool stuff is around it, IMO.

Yech...a 2L-T? I wouldn't let my wife drive that...lol.

But...the LJ being coil sprung and this one being LHD would make it a perfect candidate for an engine swap. ;)

I agee but starting at $16000 and then the cost of the swap. Ouch!

I love the "rare" part. I guess a non-steaming 2L-T makes it rare. :D

Anyways, thanks for keeping an eye out for me Jeff. But you have to realize that my budget is a lot less than half of his asking price.

if you can get the 80 down a couple K...it wouldnt be a bad deal methinks...at least its worth checking out. id get a newer one over an older one...even if it had more miles on it. might even be worth checking out even if its just to kick the tires. thats been on CL for a while, not sure if at the same dealer though. 10+ years old gas guzzlers really arent a hot commodity these days.

You could always just wait until the engine blows and then offer him 10 cents to the dollar. ;)

buy my HJ:D

But I have a perfectly good RHD Safari with an auto sitting in the garage that she won't drive either because it is RHD.

Sent an email today to a person selling a Mercedes turbo diesel wagon which "needs some work". Still looking south for an 80 or maybe even an older model Dodge Cummins. Besides the obvious HP differences, can anyone tell me the differences between the 89-93, 94-95, and the 96-98 Cummins 5.9L 12V engines. Are all three as reliable? How about the auto trannies in those years?

89-93 had rotary IP, 94 on went to in-line are the main differces, the trucks all had an auto or 5 speed option I believe, the 94+s had an extended cab with a suicide door and coils in the front, while 93 and prior are all old school leafs, but there was a extended cab option, and if you want a 1 ton all year are duelies, until 02?

yup I got a 93, and there is two flipdown seats to side sidways in the back, not much room at all, drove down south with the bayby twce now and three in the fron isnt realy comfortable eity ther is no place to put feet in the middle, may be different with an auto,

remember though the motorsl are nice , haul anything and get the same milage, but ther's a bunch of dodge attached to it, that kinda sucks some time

dodge don't make many parts for 93's anymore,

I Have a 90 CDT I use for my tow rig. Like Jim said, hauls anything. But for comfort she rides like a landcruiser:D

John, Id go for a 98 5spd ex cab. 4 doors(2 suicide) still a 12valve hella easy to mod for power

I went for the 90(first gen) cus I like the body style

Life would be easier (aka cheaper) if we didn't have kids and she would drive a standard. I kind of like the old style myself. But she needs an auto and we need space for 5 people.

I haven't seen any 98s in my price range yet. There is a 97 just across the border here for $7000: Dodge Ram 2500 Turbo Diesel 4x4 1997 - Good shape - Must see!. Most in the US seem to have over 200,000 miles on them.
