Figured I’d start a thread on the LV I’m headed to get next weekend. Thanks to @Indygbd for posting here and my dad who sent me the link about an hour later I’m considering enablers in this situation. Always wanted a lv since I sat in my first one 20 years ago when a buddy was restoring his at the time. Was the last thing I needed at this time but very excited to have one and hopefully one that’s as decent in person as in the pictures. It will not be a full restoration as they don’t suit my lifestyle. My goal with this is to preserve the body the way it sits. Complete overhaul of the drivetrain from front to back everything gone thru cleaned, replaced new. Power plant in not set on yet. I have a 6liter and 4l80 that has been on the back burner of possible into a pig and that was my first thought but then I really do like the three on the tree and the way they feel and drive. So I’m thinking for now going to put 3:73s in it and some new 33x9.5 on her and see if I can cruise at 60 without high rpm. Ultimately I think my goal will be an early 350/327/283 as long as I can keep the three on the tree. The kits say it’s not doable but I call bs. Where there’s a will there’s a way, may not be doable out of the box but can make it happen. If I have to go to a floor shifter then everything changes and will go a different route. Interior will get cleaned up and new seats thru out. Thinking I have a donor set but until they are in my possession that’s still up in the air. Will probably strip the interior paint it all clean and new. She will need all new rubber so lots to do before it goes that far. I always try to keep my rigs on the road while working on them but I think this one will be on blocks for a bit. Looking forward to the project and collecting parts to get it back together.

Parts I know she’s missing are hubs which I haven’t came across yet but should have somewhere between all the parts collected. Tail lights which aren’t a top priority at this point as I have time to collect. Rear gate handle, wiper arms.
Digging thru a few boxes this is what I’ve came up with so far that will be going for it. Have one front bib light with a busted clear lense so will be looking for a second. Probably what most would throw away it would be perfect for this. Have a pto also if it stays with the 1f if I’m happy enough with my top speed.

other than that I think it’s about 99% done and should be on the road in a few days and $500 bucks

If you’re going to use an old school GM engine, you might consider an Saginaw 3 on the tree.

Oh and they can be found with an overdrive.

Awesome! Glad it’s in the Family.. just keep plugging along as they will test your patience and wallet😂 . Driving my LV is by far the most fun of my cruiser fleet. Can’t wait to see it get back on the road! Good luck.

Will take some more pictures later on my day is already acouple hours behind. Couldn’t get it started for a bit then wasn’t going in gear. Then front brake locked trying to load on trailer. The good news is more parts are there than I thought. Steps are there, rear handle is there, set of brake light buckets and a spare set. No lenses but doable. Floors are non existing. All glass is there but windshield. All and all it’s a start

That’s awesome Mason. Keep us posted with lots of pics….gotta love Alaska this time of year. Tell your dad hello.

Did 900 miles driving by the end of tomorrow I don’t know how many miles flying about 6000 or so. Got it back, got it in the shop for the winter. Brakes are still locked up so moving it in wasn’t great but it’s there. Will adjust them some to try and break free since they are all supposed to be new and will eventually go 4 wheel disc. She’s poring fluids from about everywhere so before I go to far on the engine need to decide which route I’m going in the end. Looking forward to playing with it and getting on the road and not being worried if it period correct and pure will make it easier on my end l. Want it reliable and for everyone to move when they see it coming down the road

Awesome! Glad you are saving this one. I love the patina. Yours is so much farther along than mine. At least yours has an engine and transmission and can move under its own power. I’ll be following along. Maybe it will be motivation for me to get on mine, but with the pig and HJ45, and the 40 I haven’t even touched mine. Maybe we can have a floor building party to figure out these floors.🤔 I’d like to see how you plan on tackling that. I’ve been tempted to just put a thicker gauge flat metal plate, cover it with lizard skin, more sound deadening material, carpet and be done with it. Excited for you!

Yeah my floors are toast the rear is actually really nice but middle seat and fronts are gone. I don’t know if I would follow my lead on that as the plan is to do about what you just said. Except I’m moving the step up in floor heights one way or another and adding 3rd row seats. My thought was using a pickup bed I have cutting the floor from it and piecing in and then fill where needed. No carpet though in this one. Probably just some vinyl floor mats.

Looks like a great start, really looking forward to seeing what you come up with Mason.
