I recently had my tranny and transfer case rebuilt and I'm still trying to track down a t-case leak. We thought it may be the seal where the shifter attaches to the t-case, put a new one in...and it still leaks. It seems to be coming from the "switches" or "solenoids" that are located near the top of the t-case on the passenger side that have wires coming to/from them...the actual leak seems to be coming from the back of the "switch" or "solenoids" where the wires are connected.
I haven't been able to find anything solid that will help me figure out what these are...could be sensors of some sort...maybe the 4wd light for the t-case swithch?
This is from my mechanic buddy that's been digging around as well...

Toyota list t-case switch 1 2 and 3. They don't say what they are and the ID map kinda sucks. Picked out the one I think it is and they say it's on back order and could take weeks. Do you want me to order that?
If you wanted to use your Cruiser sources to find one we can get now, here is the id number from Toyota. 8422 (No 3) sw., TRANSFER.

As always...any and all help is appreciated

There are 3 switches on the transfer for the FJ62:

* one detects when it is in 4WD (front DS engaged), I think this is #1.

* one detects when it is in Neutral (turns a warning light on at the shifter on the floor), #2

* another detects when you've shifted into Low range, it automatically engages 4WD, #3.

#1 is on the side, #2 and 3 are on top of the case, so it could be one of these. There should be soft aluminum washers under each one to seal it to the casting of the case. Make sure they are there. If it's still leaking and the switch is not obtainable, I would try some RTV on the threads.

you said you had them rebuilt? by a shop? if yes they should be liable for anything not put back together proper.
sorry i cant be any help.

They are taking care of it no worries! The shop has been great to work with. Thanks for the information! I think I'll pull them out and make sure the washer is there...I believe the main one leaking is the smaller one on the right with 2 wires attached to it

Thank you so much for the information and quick response!
