Hello all,

I am new to the list but a longtime Cruiser owner and fan. My daughter has an '89 fj62. She put it on it's side (driverside down) on a very slow (<5mph) rollover. The Cruiser was running great prior and now has trouble maintaining idle and "hunts".

I used the engine code thread here on the list and it is giving me 31 and 41 (vaccum and throtle sensor trouble). Any advice on what to do next is appreciate.

I reved the engine to ~2500rmp's in an attempt to burn off the engine oil that wound up where it should not have. That did emprove the idle, but still not great.

Thanks

Rod

You might try pulling the plugs and cleaning them or just replace them. If a lot of oil got in the cylinders it could have fouled them and check for vacuum leaks.

Pull plugs and change them ,check the PVC and you may try Sea Foam into the intake to help clean. I will look up the codes when I get home but a really good cleaning should do it

Also check the throttle body air hose (the accordion one) . If the engine "leaned" to the DS, it may have pulled too much on the air hose and cracked it open. This is a very common culprit to rough/hard idle. If you have not already replaced this air hose, it is probably time. After 19 yrs, it gets very brittle.

Call John Hocker @ Sierra Toyota. He can get you a new one for about $65. My local dealer wanter over 90.
I could not find any alternative to the OEM hose. (duct tape works till the new one come in)
