A fellow JK owner dumped these stock JK housings with Lifetime LED bulbs in them so picked them up for cheap. I like the HID bulbs I have in the stock JK housings on my 2 door JK a little better but these were a good price.

I just picked up some H13 sockets from O'Reilly's and replaced the old and corroded H4 sockets.

Yeah, that was an all weekend job for me but so worth it. It took awhile to trace down all of the wires as some had been broken off short plus having to make a bracket.

My ten year old front OME heavy springs were shot. They seemed fine after the engine swap; the fronts actually seemed to level out, losing the stinkbug stance.

Once I added the winch & bumper back on, though, it settled back down. Then, after greasing up the bushings and between the leaves, it starting flexing so well that the front would bottom out. On my oil pan.

I ended up having to replace the oil pan because I cracked the first one (more fixes are in store for that later).

After doing some research, it turns out that the "heavy"s (CS004) are really only good for a stock truck, or stock + a bumper. If you add a winch to a heavy bumper, you really need to get the CS005, which adds an additional leaf. I'm not sure why anyone would ever order "medium" springs up front.

So, I ordered and slapped on a set of the front 005's (still have the old rear 004s). Now it rides like a sporty caddy and doesn't bottom out anymore. And the truck finally sits level. I've got maybe 200 lbs over stock in the back right now with the bumper, tools, and some other crap in there right now.

Per the tape measure, it went up an inch in the front.

It seems like the best combo if you have F/R bumpers + a winch is the CS004RA rear springs (don't do the A/B thing) and CS005F up front.

For a totally stock truck, I would do CS004RB (B is heavy, but less arch than an A) in the rear, CS004F up front.

Either of these combos should result in the level-est stance and best ride possible.

Body shop time.

I was at the body shop a week ago to have our ex-LX450 tightened up and I asked the guy for a rough ballpark figure on mine. He said vehicles that size are usually $4-5k plus body work. This is the place that the Lexus dealerships send their collision repairs, so they are legit. Does that sound reasonable for a GOOD job? I don't want to get a half-price deal and then have rust and sh!t pop back up a few years down the road.

I also plan on tastefully cutting the rear quarters and putting something back that mimics the sliders to keep the dents from coming back.

I'm thinking the cut line would be like this, but the slider would be a little different.

Good info, Cam! I've been trying to make sense of what I've got.

It looks like I've got two CS004F over spec (+ symbol) for the front (paint rubbed off but it looks like an F in the bottom) and 2 CS004RA for the back (1 not pictured, but identical). Yes, I've also read that you don't do the a/b thing for North American models. So, I should be level, but maybe not quite beefy enough (up front) if I trick it out. Of course, I'll be hitting bumps with a lot less torque and speed than you.

Sweet! Did you find a gently used set?

You can add a D1XL leaf to the front pack if you add a winch (or if you just want to level it) and turn it into a CS005. The 005's are CS004 + D1XL.

You're in for a treat when you put those springs on :grinpimp:

It's maybe not as bad as a knuckle job, but getting the original stuff off is it's own special kind of fun!

Yes, I bought that set of springs off of rob here locally. They are in good shape. I'm now recovered from the knuckle hangover and itching to get these on there. Just need to get the balance of the parts ordered, which I hope to do on Monday.

Good info on adding a leaf up front. I may do that.

Looks like the one a JA kid drove. Dent in the passenger front door and brush guard. They wanted $17K for it three years ago. Supposedly it was in Laurel for Katrina and a tree fell on the roof. Another roof was sourced and welded on so they had a lot in the truck. Crazy thing was, the kid got a red jeep commander to replace it.

Correct. Owner if this truck was in my father in laws firm. I grew up with this truck. Didn't realize it was in Jackson, thought it was in Hburg. Crazy. ESP $17k!!

Drove my 60 to the meeting tonight. What an awesome vehicle. Everywhere I go people stop and look at it. I think only Tolleson's Pig turns heads more.

I am running Ethanol free in it and after the 4th fillup I am getting a pretty solid 11 mpg. I think it did better when I built it, but it runs strong and smooth with only the occasional puff of blue smoke.

When I topped off the tank tonight (8 gallons down, 80 degrees) the cap blew off and gas spewed out. Probably a 1/2 cup but it had not happened before so I was not expecting it.

Of course I asked poor Rob about it....he gets all the questions at meetings.....and he said likely the charcoal canister.

The top hose on mine is busted off....Rob discovered. It faces the motor. Rotten.

What is the fix?

1) open the cap slowly

2) replace broken hose

3) replace charcoal canister and hose

I like option 1

Yeah I just give the cap enough turn to let the air start flowing then wait a few seconds before removing it completely.
