You'll probably need to cut the corners off the opening where the ring gear slides through the axle housing so you can get that copper line for the ARB through the opening without harming it.

This tip saved my ass.

Thanks to Bomar, we got the front diff in and everything buttoned up.

On to the compressor...

Nice work Cam! Did you do the locker yourself? If so how bad was it and bravo!

No, I skeered.

Kidding, but I don't think it would be bad if you had the right tools.

I'm sure one of the 'it thunders when he types' guys will chime in here, but, based on what I've read, the longfield (or any of the newer shorter birfs) knuckle clearance issues were related to the pre '79 40's with the longer stock birfs and small pattern knuckles. The inner bells on the axle tubes have to be clearanced a bit for these shorter but larger diameter birfs.

Hope that helps and that's what you were referring to.

There is more tech knowledge in this one paragraph than I have ever typed. We gonna have us a new "Thunder God" soon. HOT DAMN!

Good job Cam.

Done!

It didn't stay pretty for long, either. I fired up the compressor & turned on the rear locker... I guess I had built up a full head of 90wt in the blue line, 'cause when I turned it off, the solenoid blew its load all over the place. $#!%!!!

Unless JT has some parting wisdom, we can put the padlock back on the 60 Tech thread.

I'll start a new thread in here, maybe tonight.

Yesterday we did 750 miles. 13+ hours in the saddle, which is A LOT in a 60. I was rolling 70-75 the whole way, but we only averaged 58 mph, probably due to the frequent ga$ $top$.

Tech content, for Greg: the TBI works great in the altitude. We were above 5000 feet for at least the last half of the day, 6300 passing through ABQ. Other than losing some speed on the long uphills, it didn't miss a beat.

It is a little harder to start above sea level. This might be my fault, as I lowered the idle speed a while back. I may have to adjust the butterfly idle opening settings to get it to start mo better if that persists.

I have a friend with a nice rust free 1988 FJ62

Bone stock, 245,000 miles. Tranny replaced in 2001

It is currently not running and has not been registered for the road since 2008

What is this truck worth in as-is condition?

What is it worth cleaned up and fixed up?

I am likely going to buy it, clean it and do all the fluids and add some new rubber and flip it

I have NO desire to low ball the owner so I need some real world answers.

Help from the 60 guys is needed please

Looks like a fairly intact truck.

I realize you don't want to low-ball your friend, but you know from having flipped as many vehicles as you have that the miles will dictate it's gonna take a "special" person to be interested in it. I don't have a sense on value - that'll have to come from the 3FE crowd - but I'm thinking you're gonna have to get a REAL deal on it to justify the baseline/clean-up costs to get ready to "retail" it.

I'm not really sure why I just wrote this post. You already know all of this........

It is worth more parted out but I would not pay more than 1250 to 1500 without driving a 62 a 60 a different story.

It will be a lot of work for a couple of grand profit.

What's it gonna take to get it running, would be the x factor for me. Plus ya truly risking it not being able to test drive it to see what other surprises await.
