After sitting up 5 years this beauty is up and running thanks to Chris and the gang at 49 Tire

This 1988 FJ-62 is For Sale. Details later when I have a real keyboard. 259,000 road miles.

It's the most complete 25 year old vehicle I have ever seen. The OEM stereo is really cool.

Ready to roll. Needs an a/c compressor. Tranny was replaced with OEM unit at around 200k

Southern truck. Memphis/Pensacola/Madison

I will be listing it as is for $5000

An OEM reman A440F? Really? How long ago was that? They haven't been available for years... Probably 10+ yrs.

I have a friend shopping V8 swaps in a 60 at reputable shops and the quotes range from $15,000 to $25,000

Hopefully thats with a new LSA motor, built tranny, atlas 4 speed and a willing blonde in the back seat???

"Turn key EFI V8 swaps with a GM automatic adapted to a LC t-case range from 25-35k+. That includes new engine, trans adapters, fuel system, cooling system, gauges, wiring, etc."

These swaps, done right, are expensive.

I sent him to Georg and that was in line.

I paid Sunray $10,000 for a used-LT1 swap in 2001.

It's a lot of work, especially for a shop if they send the truck out and expect it not to come back for small warranty stuff that will kill their profit

Yup 10-12k is the going rate it seems for just a V8 swap .

Slee comes to mind. Same price to put a 4.7 in an 80. Just a used motor swap and wiring.

You doing all the labor. I'd think less than $5,000 with great parts.

You get what you pay for. I'm sure that quote includes a new motor.

Used Gen 3/4 GM motors are too cheap and plentiful to spend $ on new IMO.

I am sure you could find someone to do one cheaper. I think Pat told me he would swap in a V8 Gen3 into an FJ-40 for $10,000.

Labor is what definitely drives the price up.
I definitely see the worth in having an experienced reputable
Mechanic do the wiring. I just dont have the patience for it. Plug & play wiring kits are worth their weight in gold to me
