I just love this.

Run PMc is correct. I'm not inclined to do anything as long as its running and not gonna get me pulled over.

As for changing it, it's changing itself every 7-800 miles.

It is just a matter of confusion to me. Seems crazy that that much oil is disappearing.

No drips Butch.

I'd like to have a fresh 2F in this truck. Everything bolted to the long block is new. A V8 swap would be a lot of cash.

I'll keep putting oil in it and enjoying it. I guess a clutch or excessive smoke will be my trigger to do something.

If the compression checks good and it turns out to be something like valve guides then it would make sense to address it now. If the old mill is just wearing down generally... drive all the miles you can out of it. My thoughts

I bet @beno would put you a nice long block package together if you asked nicely.

Here's what's going on in your 2F.

**Disclaimer. This is my best guess and I could be wrong.**

The oil rings are worn or stuck. Under a load the engine is under low vacuum so no to little oil is being sucked into the cylinders. When shifting the engine enters a brief state of high vacuum and oil is pulled into the cylinders and pushed out the exhaust. The state of higher vacuum in the engine is also when coasting in gear and those frequent transitions between light throttle and no throttle. The upshot is that your engine is sucking up more oil and passing it through the exhaust than you realize.

You will be missed. She is back in Memphis area.

Bossman taught me about compression tests today.

#6 is 60# so I'm a 5.5 cylinder.

After consulting him and Pat I'm going to keep dumping oil in it until it becomes an embarrassment

My #6 had low compression too. It wasn't as off as yours. From my reading, it seems like that one is usually the first to go. Are you ever getting any misses or backfires? If not, it's still got enough juice to make the power stroke.

Did y'all do the test wet and dry? Bossman has forgot more than I will ever know, but sometimes you can squirt a little oil in the cylinder while the plug is out and see if it jumps up (stuck ring, etc..). Mine jumped from about 70 (dry) to about 95 (wet).
