With the help of my homies, we harvested an 80-series suspension with the plan to graft it in under my truck.

I've seen it done before, so I'm hoping I can duplicate it. I'll start a thread if I can find the motivation to get started.

I must've prepped my wife for the worst because she was relieved to see that this is all that followed me home. My neighbors are thoroughly amused by all of this :grinpimp:

...P.S. might be a good opportunity to fix that dent.

Haha! Wait, which one?

If this project doesn't end in me parting out the truck, bodywork & new paint is the next major project I want to tackle. Well, have someone else tackle. Then I'll just stick to overlanding and keep it purty.

Cam, I would love to be your neighbor. You take on the projects that make me wish I had more hours in the day... And you actually finish them with style points to spare. Ima get in on some of that popcorn @pmccraney brought and enjoy the show.

Dunno. Mine rides awe fully good. That a lot of work

Dude made it look easy. We'll see. Here's his thread if you're bored. Page 2 is the suspension...Brown FJ60 + FZJ80 + Chevy 5.7 = THE FLYING TERD PROJECT!!!

Mine is riding good at the moment (it probably feels threatened) but it's usually pretty stiff and flex-less. The 80 stuff will have better brakes (rear disk if I go FF), and much better steering geometry in addition to the coil ride.

Personally, I'd love to see you tackle it. But if you are yearning for more overlanding capability, this might be a critical time to step back, take a deep breath... and buy a 100.

I will own a 60 one day but I won't ask it to do anything beyond the hunting camp and the grocery store.

All that said, ain't nobody gonna criticize you for doing aggressive and cool mods, because, well, that's why this forum exists.

I'm too invested in the 60 right now to move on. Plus 100's don't have solid front axles or full float rears, so I can still try to claim some sort of superiority. And they're a hair too big for me (I still want to go back to the Rubicon, and also do Dusy, both of which are not 100-friendly).

So, until I can have both, I'll keep workin' with what I've got. Plus this should be nearly a free upgrade when I close the books on it.

I know and I understand. I'd love to see you do it and think the logic (in terms of what you want) is sound. I was just messing with you a little. Making sure you were good and motivated. So, when do you start? These guys are eating all my popcorn during the previews.

Are you running ARB's in both the front and rear currently? Does the math on the free upgrade involve selling the thirds...or at least the front third?

Hey, let's try to keep the logic out of it!

I'm going to crawl around under my truck with the tape measure this weekend and try to map it out. I don't have the surgery scheduled yet, but I'd love to have it done by spring.

I'm ARB'd F&R now. The math does involve selling the front third. And the longfields. And the axle housings, HD steering stuff, spare open diff, etc, etc... everything that's not nailed down or usable as a spare. I am keeping the locking hubs though.

Going back with an ARB in the 80 front axle, or did you find an e-locked one?

What gears are in your current thirds?

I'd like to go back with an ARB in the 80 front, we'll see have to see what the balance sheet looks like though. I've got 4.11s now.
