You know, I've had a half dozen or so folks tell me that they are going to do the same thing you mention, I usually respond by saying that it sounds like an awful lot of work, but be sure to send me photos when you get it all done!

So far I've not received any photos........ :p

I think it's a great idea, I would consider doing it, but I would just do a patch job, I don't do Bondo work.

The two things to keep in mind is that there needs to be a little bit of clearance for the bumper (or future bumpers) when the tailgate is open and laid flat (take a look at the clearances with it open).
The other thing is that I put a Mossburg in the tailgate, but not much else. It's still a tailgate, would really stink to get rear-ended and have a couple nice long guns with a bend in the middle.

So, if you go through with it, be sure to send me some photos!

point taken, sure would hate to loose a good shotgun...which brings me to an alternate plan...are your side opening windows in production yet? That would be a perfect solution for field hunting and would build my cargo/storage system around those opening windows...can't wait to get my hands on them.

What is the wait list looking like for the tailgate lid? I will be heading back stateside from Iraq in 2weeks to a month and looking to finally add something new to the Toy. I am looking to get the tailgate with cam latches and key cores, grip plastic and the wagongear decal to display on it.
