I just bought this sucker and have plans to fix it up. I'd like to make some more tops for it, reupholster the interior in something weatherproof, rebuild the tranny (R isn't engaging), paint, rubberized floor, etc.. First, I need to smog it in CA (gulp). Looking for ideas...

Umm Dude... How much did you wind up paying for something like this? Just curious... And what area did this come out from?

It had back fees, but all told, still less than 2k. Came out of the Los Angeles area. I'm in the desert near Palm Springs. I'm kinda wondering what people think of it? Love it or hate it?

btw My last car was a '92 bronco xlt with a Rampage soft top. Looking forward to having 4 doors.

I think we love to hate it ;) . I think if you get rid of the bling bling wheels it'll look way better... make it run and smog then build a REAL cage ... Start a build thread and keep us posted. I think its cool.

Well, I drive a diesel 60 so my first thought is "too many horses". :D

Seriously though, if you lost the bling and put a real set of wheels and tires on there, it would be a nice truck.

Strip it... Get rid of all that chrome Kragen stuff, Get rid of the body lift and lift it right, Wheels and tires gotta go... Full family cage would be kinda cool... :):grinpimp:

1985 FJ60

Finally... my first post!

1. 1985 FJ60
2. Owner: Nick
3. No real nicknames
4. 242,XXX miles
5. Purchased completely stock a few months ago from original owner. Super clean. Put mismatched add-a-leafs front and rear equal to about a 2" lift. New suspension bushings. Has "old" 31x10.50's soon to be replaced (maybe 33's for rubber o/d). No rebuilds but runs and drives better than my last two 60's that had much less miles. Plan on 5.3/4l60 conversion if the old 2f ever gives up.
6. Daily driven with some light desert wheeling.

Hey guys, thought I'd introduce myself. I bought this truck on xmas day, sight unseen. Although that experience wasn't as pleasant or smooth as I had hoped, its still a great truck and I love it. Future plans: white FJ40 steelies with hubcaps, 33s, small lift, V8? and some sorting and cleaning.
