OBX in May sounds good. If I'm invited?:hillbilly:

OBX starts to get crowded in June (schools out).

I plan the ONSC Spring Tide Ride for the last weekend in April before the driving restricition go into place. Usually anything later the mosquitos are out, it starts to get busy. March is good, but we ran into snow and sleet in 2008. If you're not looking for a strictly 60 series gathering, I'd invite you to take part in our ride. We're looking into TLCA sanctioning, and future plans. I hate to make a formal invitation becuase we have a lot of things to iron out. But just keep it in mind. We'll have everything from 40's to FJ's...

sweet. count me in for a spring trip!

outer banks would rock. camping, fishing, whatever. we will have to keep any eye on the driving restrictions for that time of year.

Nags Head trip for the 62 next week

Hey guys, I am a rookie here, and haven't met any of you but I am heading to the Nags Head in the OBX next week for a vacation, i will see what I can find locally about driving restrictions and such.
I do know that for anyone not wanting to camp (my :princess: being one) you get big rate cuts before Memorial day and after Labor Day. We got a 6 BR house [its a family thing] w/ pool and hot tub for the week $2200, during the summer the same place is nearly $4K for the week. Plus dogs are allowed on the beach only before and after the "summer" season.

But then again TN and WNC is beautiful too. Its all about what people want, but count this rookie in.

Looks like I just missed you. I'm heading down to duck in OBX Saturday. Did you find anything about driving restrictions down there? My brother told me they do have a place where they allow you to drive on the beach. It would be nice to know where, if you have the info, before I get there.

I got the same deal on a house down there too. Getting ready to meet a bunch of friends for an adult only week of debauchery. Can't wait. We're going to try and turn this into a annual tradition. That is, if they let us back after this trip...

our club is spending the weekend on the beach up there next weekend....we are having our 2nd Annual Lowcountry Boil.....taking ferry from Southpoint Ferry over to Carolina Beach...then driving to north end and driving onto and camping on beach at Freeman Park. If anyone would like to stop in and say hello or even join us you are more than welcome....

if just saying hello.....look for a bunch of land cruisers, fj cruisers and maybe a jeep in park up there......if you would like to participate...visit Lowcountry Land Cruisers for cost to eat and share in our raffle drawing on Saturday night.

I just hope the temps cool slightly...the rain stays away....and the wind is enough to keep the gnats from eating us alive. :)

Windrock would be an option, that's true. Lots of trails - really, a whole lot, with everything from ho-hum to insane. Room to camp too. It can get crowded of course, and I don't know about the camping space situation - if you can reserve spots, etc.

It's near Oak Ridge, TN for those who don't know.

Windrock in TN is more central if you want to pull anyone from the central states and I hear the wheeling is great.

be careful with who you ask out there; its a touchy subject to the local small business owners. unless, you enjoy small town politics and have the time to have your ear chatted off by the local bait man.

the extreme environmental activists  that what to protect these annoying birds can close off any part of the beach at any given time. it has really put a damper on the local economy considering fishing was the biggest attraction.

im sure certain parts of the beach will remain open during that time. its just hard to say which sections the birds nest.

there comes a point where human quality life is more important that birds quality of life. and ill throw in cruisers quality of life in the mix too!
