hey guys, i found some 60 series complete diffs for the right price, my plan is to do a soa conversion using the 60 diffs,
i know some ppl have done this before and i was wondering if anyone who was don this could give me some insight on how it went and any problems the came across,

p.s any pics of them finished?

you might need some extra wide flares if its to be licenced mate

The perches are at different locations but that wont matter because you will be getting new perches anyway. You may have a problem with getting the front right perch to sit right as it will sit very close to the diff centre becase the 70 frame is narrower than the 60 frame. I think it is doable its just alot of messing round. But I know some people have been using 60diffs in 70s (hulsty has a rear 60diff in his) and i dont think there is much else to change.

I've also done 60 diffs front and rear under another middy, SPUA. They go in well and with standard offset rims stock flares look ok. If going SOA it would be easy in regard to spring perches as you can build them up to clear the diff centre rather than cutting into it as I did with SPUA

Lowenbrau has an excellent build-up thread doing an SOA conversion and using 60 series axles.

Hi,

Just wondering why you need 60 series diffs to do the SOA? Why cant you use your 70 diffs?

I used the 60 stuff because I wanted the width. I got 3" from the 60 axles and another 3" from the Sky widetrack kit.
