Fun day snow wheeling with the club yesterday. Got turned around in the deep stuff after getting high centered a few times. Serious considerations for a BMC, 33s, and a hidden winch mount. We shall see…

Depending on factors like wheel offset and alignment you may not need a BMC for 33s.

I have had 33s on both my J150 chassis trucks without BMCs, using OEM steelies.

Good to know…Thank you! I was under the impression that a bmc was more or less required. Hadn’t planned on new wheels but worth a cost comparison at a minimum. My tires only have ~15k on them so it’ll be a while before and upgrades.

Every vehicle is a little different, but i can fully stuff 33x10.5s, 285/70R17s and 275/70R18s. The 7" wide oem wheels may have rubbing issues on the UCA, the 7.5" wide oem wheels won't.

You may also need to get it aligned to move the tire forward.

You will definitely need to move fender liners, though.

Thanks for all the input! I’ll be referring back to this when it comes time for new tires.

For sure! If you can keep your scrub radius at a minimum, you can maximize tire height. I wouldn't go wider than 285, though, but that's just me.

From a few weeks ago. We kept the 4runner back in reserve and it saved the day.

Hit a local trail (easy) for a few miles over the weekend after running into crazy crowds trying to hike. Stopped for lunch with my wife on the way back down.

We spent a couple of days at "The Big Thing" in Three Forks, MT recently. I can't believe that I've been using this Freespirit Recreation Basecamp XL trailer/tent combo now for over 12 years! I have pulled it through parts of five BDRs and the Heart of the West loop, plus much of the Four Corners area and western U.S. It probably has close to 40 k miles of gravel and two track under it's belt. The poor old zippers are finally starting to wear out after 100's of nights of camping. What a little beast and only on 28" tires but with 14" of clearance.
