Hi all,

Been on Mud for a while and mostly lurk while getting tons of great info for my FJ40. I haven't made much progress/changes to the 40 so don't contribute much. Basically here to learn. Thank you! If this is the wrong section, please move it.

Saw this today while perusing eBay and it has me really interested:

What are your thoughts? My 96 Tacoma was totaled by a deer on Friday so this would be my DD. besides the obvious (tires, interior, not working items listed in posting, etc) would this make a decent Daily driver? 10 miles one way to our business. Couple miles each way to kids school, nothing too major. Live on east coast of FL so not having heat isn't critical.......

Discuss...

Thanks in advance

No air in Florida might be tough. I would get rid of the welded rear end for a DD but for 1,750 it might be Ok. Pictures don't show how much of the famous rust this rig has. Look at some of the other rigs listed here to get a idea of what a reasonable price is.

I think Pigs make better DDs than 40s. '74 is a good year. I don't like Webers, or welded rears. 38s are too big for a 2F and 4.11s.
If you know your way around a LandCruiser, and can deal with the piddly stuff, go for it.
I've been DDing my '74 for 25 years now, took my kids to & from school (hung a knotted rope from the rear passenger grabhandle so they could climb in by themselves) until they could drive themselves.
They are superior vehicles and don't let you down. Mine always got us home. Perfect for family outings and teaching kids how to drive.

Have you seen the one for sale in Ormand Beach on Daytona CL?

I did see that on. It's nice but a little more than my budget at the moment. Spoke with the owner of the one in MD and he agreed it wouldn't make for a good daily driver.

Thanks for the thoughts and insight!
