Yes I will have to take it in to be checked under warranty, (as well as other probs) but I was woundering if anybody else has had this problem.
The problem - The transmission does not change out of 3rd into 4th/5th when Drive is selected, it will kick down, but not kick up past 3rd. (The selecter light on the dash says "D" and the gear shift is in "D")
When it happens - It appears to happen after I am driving up a hill and decend then try to drive away at the bottom, sometimes it kicks down to third while decending the hill(does this itself happen to anyone else) . It also happens possibly when towing, decelerating then powering on, as if a deceleration sensor or something is saying, hey the vehicle is being pushed without the drivers foot on the throttle, and it tells the ECU to enginge brake or kick back to third.
The fix - I had to shut the vehicle down and restart it to "clear the problem" on Thursday and on Sunday I managed to get by, by selecting neutral and back into drive.
Does anyone have a FSM on the 5 speed with all the logic on how it works?

Not exactly the same situation but I’ve noticed mine downshifting occasionally at strange times… maybe from 5th to 3rd. It seems to do it when decelerating while going down a slight incline. I wonder what the LC CPU is thinking sometimes. Thanks.

i recommend removing the battery cable from the battery and letting it sit for 30 minutes or so, resetting the computer, see if that helps

Good suggestion IF it was out of warranty. I would leave it as is so the dealer can replicate the issue.

Well I finally had the problem when I was near the dealer, took it in and a mechanic took it for a drive, we stopped on the side of the road, turned off key and back on, problem disappeared as I said it would do. He took it to the shop and found no codes at all. They said the would have to pull the valve body for a look, I said NO WAY are you touching my tranny, this is an electrical issue which only happens when the "adaptive mode" switches in going down hills and automatically kicks your tranny down, and the fault is resettable by turning off the key. They rang me back the next day after talking to head office who haven't experienced the fault and took it in to check all connectors and then ordered a new ECU and fitted it. Hasn't happened again since, but it was only happenibg every 3 months or so. I lifted the centre console and found everything loose around the shift selector, 5 clips broken off, I glued 3 back that I found but 2 are missing!!

Could this be a "throttle body sensor" problem manifesting itself in a different way?

That problem is often intermittent and resets after turning off the vehicle.

The 100 series tranmission experts are found in your part of the world and on the web at www.automatictransmission.com.au. I would give them a call and see if they are familiar with this fault.
