Slightly off-subject but not much :D: I want to convert my semi-float rear axle assembly on my 100 to a full float style. Would like to use Toyota ends (spindles, hubs, disc brake with e-drum brake, etc.): Anyone know the axle shaft diameter, length and spline count for a rear 79-Series?

Ditto for the wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface width for the same?

Thanks,
Dan

The axle shaft diameter is the same, the spline is the same. I put a 100 series 4.30 rear pumpkin in my hzj79 - works perfectly. 32 spline IIRC.

Hi
RJ and LJ are high pinion , the main diff between it and a /79 diff is smaller cv,s and brakes.
I'd love to have a list of all the 70 cv,s and there sizes for a reference .
With the 100 mate I'd leave it semi float , I know the rave is full floater ( easy to service ) but I've never seen any semi float bearing issues with the 100 series nor all the prados .

Its because of bearing issues that I want to change to a FF. Servicing the 100 SF axle bearing system is a PITA and expensive too ($675 for parts and labor PER SIDE). And not something most can do if necessary out on the trail let alone in most home garages.

Ideally, if the parts match up, I'd like to use 105 outers (spindle, hub, disc and e-brake systems) with a custom housing and axles (due to the extra width needed for a 100) and my 3rd. Which means I need to find someone over yonder ;) with cut outers to ship to me.

Custom axles will be tough to find or have made - pretty much impossible - been there done that.
