5.7 Liter Water Pump

Hi there

Been a happy owner of a LC 20 Vxr despite minor issues faced with headlight leaking water and cut wire in knock sensor. Simple fixes and covered by warranty.

I believe the 5.7 Liter engine have a timing chain.

Is there a certain mileage where some idlers or water pump needs to be changed ?

Nah. Don't change it until it leaks. You'll notice red stuff on, around, and under before you have to get into it.

Mine started a very mild leak and I had it replaced after 7 years and 90K miles.

similar for me. very slight leak @ 7 years & 105k miles. had it replaced.

Replaced mine at about 120k miles. I had a belt that started squeaking and turns out that water was leaking on to it and causing the squeak. Never had any drops or spots on the garage floor.

Is this part easy enough for the toyota dealership to replace or would it be better to have Lexus dealership change it out seeing how they see 570's roll through frequently?

Simple? Don't think so.

Water pump:$160

Labor: $1000

Changing a water pump is simple maintenance (hours to do a job does not correlate with actual difficulty).

Rebuilding an automatic transmission is not simple.
