A new 4x4 shop has opened up in Tucson. 4Wheel Parts is their name. I understand they are already in PHX . They opened just this week so I went by to see what they have. They have a few things that could be helpful, like recovery equipment, hi-lifts, winches, lights. All in all though, they are a Jeep store. The manager asked what I drive and when I told him Landcruiser he said “we can get a little bit of Toyota stuff” and handed me a catalog (that looked exactly like the Performance Products catalog BTW) that had some things for Taco’s, FJC and Tundras.
They have far better merchandising than Desert Scat and I bet they would be willing to help. It amazes me how crappy the Desert scat stores are and how piss-poor the help is. I think this new store might be better. They seem to be real big on Pro-Comp wheels/tires and Fox shocks.
So they don’t have squat on the shelf for non-jeep specific vehicles, but if you need accessories they have some of that and the feeling I got is that they would try to help you.
They are on Speedway just east of Alvernon in the old Pet Hotel building next to the bowling alley.

Thanks for the heads up, how's their pricing, I still need to get a high lift...

I didn't reallylook at the prices enough to know. Just seeing what they have on the shelf.

I would not let 4 wheel part put air in my tires...Just my experience

A lot of Jeeper friends said the same thing about their experiences with the Phx area stores.

They took my 100 in, it was the first any store of their's did, and their installation was flawless, right down to putting the switches into the dash. I've seen some really poo-poo cuts by pro-wheeling shops. Not mine thank God.

Oh, they definitely won't ever touch my rig. No body works on my rig besides me or my buddy's shop. It would be nice to have a decent place to buy stuff around here though.

Watch online for their sales, the prices are usually good in store. They also price match IIRC. They do have some killer deals occasionally. I haven't heard anything good about their service other than Shotts' experience.

I've dealt with them in Atlanta and here in Mesa. Not the best but not the worst. Most of their work is lifting pick ups and some jeep stuff. They have a distribution center in Phoenix I believe so getting non stocked items (ARB stuff) is somewhat painless. Pro Comp is a "house" brand or has some stratigic alliance with them. Best thing they'll do is a 4 for 3 deal on their tires.

As far as service goes I would say it depends on what and which tech does the work (like anywhere else) I would trust them with suspension I guess but not much more.

I've delt with them in SoCal...service seems sketchy, like all the other chain stores.

If you have a mall cruiser, they probably have what you need....usually their showrooms are littered with shiny junk (chrome), and lift kits that use hard bushings and cheap shocks instead of anything that has the slightest hint of quality.

I'd rate them about 50 steps above Desert Scat (who I refuse to do business with after they told me that Rancho RS5000 shocks are the absolute best shock ever made for off road use), but they are still not worth much beyond the basic accessories (hi lift jacks, recovery gear, etc), IMO.

John Shotts, I am really surprised you got good service out of them. It is unusual to hear anything but complaints when talking to people who actually take their vehicles off road. They seem to cater to the poser crowd rather than people who actually 'wheel their rigs. I suppose there is more money in the poser industry......

That's exactly what others in Phx said about them.

If you stop in the Tucson store, go see Tom (aka mudrnr). He's the assistant mgr and knows Toyota's inside and out. Recently he has fallen to the dark side by owning a couple of Jeeps, but still has a Trekker on 38's that he is rebuilding for his son. He's also pretty well connected with folks who can fab, do custom driveline work, etc...

I've known Tom for years and am always amazed how much knowledge this guy has. He'll treat you right.

Stopped by yesterday, and I was disappointed, to say the least. After meandering around the store, wanting to buy some tires (money in hand) for about FIFTEEN minutes (with only one other customer in the shop), I walked out without so much as a "Can I help you?"

Not going back.

I'd prefer to be able to wander a store and then ask for help when I'm ready for it. What turns me off to a retail place is when someone's hounding you the whole time you're there. Asking a ton of useless questions about what I do for a living trying to figure out how much they think they're gonna gouge me for. Just my opinion.

Maybe. but when you are ready to buy and the employees are oblivious to any customers, it says a lot.

This is true. If I walked up to a counter in an effort to get some service and was not at least given eye contact and a gesture of some sort aknowledging that I am ready to be helped with either a question or a purchase, I would then feel differently.
