My 60 is a January 82 build date. I just finished up rebuilding the split case. I have a light on the dash for 4 wheel drive but the case is absent of any switch or wires. There isn't even a hole for the switch. I have attached a picture of the side of the front out output housing where it should be

(not the best but all I have right now).

Can someone explain to me where the light gets a signal 4 wheel drive is engaged?? I am baffled.

See that connector that goes to sensor next to frame on pass side?

I am guessing you didn’t read or look at my picture. I don’t have that switch on my t case or the hole to put one in. I think I have solved the dilemma though. Looking at my dash after work again, I do not see the green 4wd light. It must have not come on early 60s.

I read and looked at your post this tcase is from a 84 fj60. So you have a spot in the dash that says 4x4

Really dude? I showed you where the sensor is. That’s it.
Next time don’t worry I won’t read one of your inquiries.

I am sorry guys. I am thankful for your responses. I guess I wasn’t clear enough with my original post.

I know where the switch should be.......but it’s not. I was looking for another location it might be on an 82 or it just doesn’t have one. I have come to the conclusion the 82 doesn’t come with a light.....just have to look at the floor and see the shifter.

1983 cluster below...4wd indicator is bottom right and choke is bottom left.

Is the bottom left on the 1982 choke or are you saying that’s the 4wd indicator?

When I originally posted I was pretty confident it had a light. I am thinking the 82 didn’t have one.

Well, at least you guys solved the reason my 4X4 light doesn’t come on any more. I think my wires are cut. Is it possible to order a new sensor and wire loom? Or maybe it’s easier to just rewire it.

Well I’m glad this thread wasn’t totally useless. I would check with Toyota or some of the parts dealers here on mud to see if it is available still. If not......you may be able to find it used.
