i just looked up one of the old logs i made before i tuned. its a 2004 2500HD with 6.0 and 4l80e and 3.73 gears. 1st gear shifted at 53mph at 5200 rpm. after i tuned it shifted at 60mph and 6000 rpm.

all I know about it is the 4L80e stands up to the 454 in my 91 2500 Suburban. I am not exactly nice to it and it has 207,xxx miles on it. you won't notice the 5% difference in the OD (4L80e = 25% over driven, 4L60e = 30% over driven) and actually the 5% less overdrive is a benefit to keeping the tranny cooler. with lower gears you wont notice the taller 1st gear either.

what you will notice is the 4L80e weighs more than a pregnant elephant and sucks up alot of torque.

Ill be following CLOSELY the poineers here on mud for what they have done in their installs to try and make it smog legal even though I currently do not have to smog.
Im reading these posts carfully.
Does anyone know if earlier model trannies (96 and up) will work with a later model (99-01) engine, and is there a difference between V8 and V6 cyl trannies?

I am running a built 4l65e in my silverado ss and i have 600hp at the crank. I have broke input and output shafts on stock trannys, In my built tranny i have everything upgraded internally. Have you already bought a tranny? if you have one rebuilt i would go with upgraded cluches and shift kit and it will be fine.

Thanks,
did you do the work, or have a shop do it?
If it was done at a shop, about how much did that run?
Im finding the trannies pretty cheap, but they do have 80K+ on em.
