4bd1t into lj70

Should be doable. That engine has been swapped into 40 and 60 series Land Cruisers. The engine is a little taller than the 2LT so you might need some lift and/or oilpan mods for clearance. The Isuzu looks like an SBC on the back so the V8 adapters should get your transmission bolted up.

There is quite a bit of info on these swaps over at the 4BTswaps forum.

Oke thanks very much ! i saw an hilux from 1985 with 4bd1t engine and i know that that car has the same 2l engine as mine lj70 but the enginebay im not shore about ?:meh:

I just to follow up, the 4bd1t is i think a great base engine, i am actully close to pull the trigger on one and make it match a toyota gearbox:), i am just a bit worried that the gearbox, a H151f or H150 might not like the truck torque of this engine:hhmm:

The idea is a 4bd1t with fzj gearbox and transfer case, 80 frame cut in teh rear with an extended bj/hzj/lj body on it to match the 2850mm wheel base.

35+ tires that would be a great truck:) just a thought but already looking for bits:grinpimp:

Sure it will fit, but why are you doing it?

The 'Suzy 4 cylinders are fantastic engines.. The DMax can be good too.. I prefer 6 cylinder engines myself

If the engine bay isn't wide enough, you can always widen the LJ70, and stretch the hood out..:D check out this Mini?

I put a 4BD2 in my 60 about 12,000 miles ago and am quite happy with it. I wanted one of Mr. Toyota's diesels, but too expensive, parts, etc., etc..

I used the Isuzuswappers.com kit and my H55 transmission. With 33's and 3.70 gears over 12K miles I'm getting about 19.8mpg.

Check my signature line for build thread and let me know if I can answer any questions.
