Hey guys,
I am happy to announce that I have finally brought a 47, but she's not here yet:(. Since its coming up from Melbourne I decided to get my uncle to help out cos he gets cars from there all the time. The company that he uses will bring it up Wednesday or Friday, whenever they have room.
Some specks are:
1983 model
170000 gen kms
mustard colour
has aircon
all panels are straight; no dents minimal rust and the rust is light surface rust
4-speed gearbox, 2h engine; all original drivetrain
no bulbar, tub/tray (my mate has a steel tray that uses to be on a 45 that I will scab)
roof is drilled for a spotty, what to do with that?
The PO bleed the brakes and the clutch before he stored it so it has no brakes which should be fun getting it home:)
Also hasn't been started in about two years but the PO also said that a fresh tank of diesel and she would be fit and firing.
At this stage I just want to get it going and fix up the small amount of rust so it doesn't become a problem in the future and then I will have to see what I do next.
Apart from that I am still learning and any input would be much appreciated. (I wont stop anyone asking any questions)
I'll post up some pics as soon as I can.

Sound like a good plan mate pics please

Subscribed, and BTW, please let me know if I can help any time.

if anything needs fixing, there's always the duck tape on the dash:D

That gumtree HJ47 is way overpriced. look offline for good deals, last year I picked up a HJ47 (rust in floor otherwise good) for $700
and I have a line on another one (no rust but an engine knock) for $12000.

Its all about who you know, mention to everyone you know that you want one.

After you've bought something, someone will inevitably point out deals that are apparently better...

And no-one can know all there is to know about the condition of any vehicle until they own it.

170,000kms is certainly ultra-low and mustard is a beautiful colour too!

Enjoy...

I'm looking forward to seeing your pics...

Yep, that is a absolute smoking deal in these parts, like the under cab fuel tank, only seen one of those here in Canada ah..

He's finally found one! Good work 47. She looks pretty sweet and a decent price too.

new a more productive response is to give positive feedback after a purchase. It helps keep the shine on an old Landcruiser for longer.

Air-con! I wish :D

ok, let me be really positive, bring your new 47 to my place so I can steel your aircon! :) - Now that makes me jelous

Great looking truck, i have always wanted a 47.

I'll distract him for ya :D

Congrats,

There is a bunch of cruiser nuts over here in SA.

Best wisdom I can part with - don't throw anything out. That radio looks stockish, could probably fetch some coin from anyone doing a restoration.

Sink your teeth into it - get it running and drive it.

Yeah no worries mate, I'll bring a car trailer and we can do a swap - you can have my aircon and I'll have your cruiser.
Aircon is worth about $700 bucks isn't it?

Having a little bit of trouble getting it here before Christmas:bang:, the trouble is that the car companies are all to busy and have no room, but my uncle has some handy friends in the a transport company...

Don't beg too hard just yet. You may need another, or several, favours from him yet. Especially when you see other Cruisers going cheap nearby..

well, good news. the car company has said that they can pick it up this Friday and maybe deliver it as well or else it will be Monday. also the PO said that the slave cylinder is gone and needs replacing so I'm going to order a master as well.
any thought as to where is the best place to purchase these are? OEM would be best?

eBay or terrain tammer Japanese replacement parts are good
