I use that rear cam washer all the time.. especially in the winter and even in rainy conditions where droplets are on the lense. The washer fluid even clears that off.

Ive always thought it would be super cool to add trail camera in the front and tie into a carplay dashcam unit that has multi-camera input. I know you can get that sort of set-up in Canadian models. Would be amazing if you could add cameras that it didn’t ship with like MTS.

@Acrad do you know anyone who has added Lexus cameras by adding the parts to a 460 that didn’t ship with them? Id sooner do that than CC/MTS.
If you are talking adding a front camera to the OEM infotainment system then I'd question doing that with the stock unit at 480p\640x480 the image quality leaves a lot to be desired as does the wide angle camera. Especially for trail use.

The passenger side camera is in the mirror and first thing I do when going off road is turn off the parking assist so the alarms aren't going off non stop. And fold the mirrors in which changes the side view of the camera. Not much use there either you are already on top of trees or rocks at that point.

Seeing how you said carplay dashcam I assume you are talking after market replacement to get carplay? Beatsonic does have a front camera add on for their system but know little about it I'm staying with the factory unit for now. I have a Garmin dashcam but wouldn't want to use a dashcam to see rocks in front of me. Even with the display transferred to my phone, the view I want from the dashcam is a lot different from what I want to see when navigating rocks in front of me. But I may very well be misinterpreting what you are saying.

I run a Garmin BC 40 camera in the rear for a second backup camera and have considered adding another BC 40 camera for the front. But went through a rock field earlier this month where I would slam hard on the skid plates 6-10 times in my Baja Taco that is factory lifted 1.5". Was able to take the GX through the same rocks and only hit 2 times and not hard which really surprised me given the lower listed ground clearance. But I could also see over the hood better than the Taco and plan according. My hunting partner used to spot me in the Taco, I didn't have him spot me in the GX and yes he knows a good line.

My Polaris Northstar Trail Boss has front and rear cameras and are infrared cameras for actual off road use and work as an off road camera should. IMO anyways. GX OEM cameras not so much. They are part of the Drivers support package IIRC and for parking in a parking lot or to assist in parallel parking. Beyond that for off road use I feel there are much better solutions.

Member on CL named hzao, has retrofitted the 360 camera on his luxury gx460. He bought an aftermarket add on box, that allowed him to do so. The box cam with its own set of cameras and template to make it factory , but he took it one step further and got oem mirrors with cameras and did some custom wiring to make it all play nice. The aftermarket addon box also allows dvr functionality.

If doing cameras, i just get the 12.5/13.5 headunit upgrade like gxbob. Some of those you can kit out from the device mfg to include all the cameras, wiring, and dvr function (very low quality but one less camera to setup). Add in a hotspot for internet connectivity for long journeys and the headunit.

If anyone is wondering, I ended up receiving the camera and I believe it was shipped out of Poland. The total cost was $133 CAD although it shipped to me in Canada is like 6 days.
