1965 45 Frame with title and vin plates, "ok" condition with surface rust, nothing too major, but cut off just behind rear sping hangers, includes axles , 3rd members. Trying to find out what consensus price is for west coast?

yeah I know " its worth whatever someone is willing to pay",,,, anybody buy one recently , or know of one for comparison.
I located one but think $3K is kinda high...
thanks

Well, wait and see if they sell it for big $$$
I think the average would be $500 to $2k.. When you get higher than that I think stretching a 40 frame sounds feasible.

The Fj45 is really rare in Hawaii. Seems like every waterman ( fisherman, surfer, boat guy) has a 90's or newer Toyota 4X4 truck, all in some state of rust and decay, or just out of the shop with some new body repair and paint. The average fj40 is pretty rusty, and WELL used. (can dig for a pic , some of them are so funny- held together by wire and a prayer) there are some great places to ride , besides the beach....

But anyway, yes the stretch frame of a 40 seems like the cheapest way to go... shipping has gotten to be nuts, driving the price of everything up here.
slowly piling up some pieces for 45 build....

Thought I read somewhere you can use a 55 frame with a bid of mod..(cant seem to find anything on it now) ...not that theres one of those on every corner...

Interesting...I know someone who recently purchased a mid '70s LWB 45, and wondered what a replacement frame would cost him, as his frame it toast :frown:

I believe the swb and LV shared the same wheelbase and could be switched. You have to add body mounts but it would work. I'm guessing the FJ55 is probably closer to the swb than the lwb. I wish FJ45LP-B frames were as easy to find as the FJ55 frames. I kicked around the idea of making a four door early land cruiser. Finding a FJ55 frame wouldn't be problem if I had decided to go that route.

Aqualu in Kelowna BC, is best known for their replacement body panels and tubs, but they do make a 45 replacement frame. pretty expensive, but they may be negotiable....(retails for $5K)

Yes , the 40 extended frame looks doable.

any photos of your 40 to 45 frame extension project? A photo of your truck plz?
did you use 45 rear springs /perches as whitey mentioned?
thanks everybody, got great info on this thread. several PMs on 45 frame prices,
from $1000 to $1500, all including title.

cruiserparts.net had a 45 frame listed for along time, not sure if it's still on there, but it was $2,000??

I did call them a while back, but the girl on the phone told me she had no idea if they would be legal in Quebec...maybe things have changed, so I will let my friend know...thanks for the reminder.

It is really his inner frame that is all swelled up, and toast...wonder if a new inner frame can be made, and then swapped out??

I have a 45 here I got from whitey45 and its on a 55 chasiss the body mounts have to be moved but almost everything else lines up well... you will have to re do the rear spring hangers or springs as the wheelbase is 1 inch different..

Wasn't as easy to find the info on Mud as It is in a old SOR catalog. But the stock short wheel base is 104.3" and the FJ55 is is 106". The LWB is over 116". So I'm guessing you have a SWB not a LWB correct? Which need to be stretched about 10" to have a LWB fit the FJ55 frame.
