I know its rare..but they also quoted the wrong price on the internet and i had the ad printed....they stood no real chance.....so im happy and they are sad.....prob still did not lose any money though

ps hey clownmidget how much of a lift is that ...that thing looks sweet whith 17's and 315... I have kind of thought of buying a set of take offs off a new 4 runner....the 17's... are there any clearance issues since the rims are narrower than stock.

if you can't wait for clown to get back from S-n-T, you can see pics of these sliders on Jim Brantley's rig on his site -- www.realcruiser.com They're the ones on Ruby (the 80 -- scoll down to the bottom of his main page for pics of the sliders.

Steve, I'll take some but like Doug said, they're exactly like Jim's except for the cat protection. Ken's new design is on Scott F.'s 96 truck which is what you'd get now if you ordered them.

Mooker, don't know about "how much" - not enough? But I'm running 1.5" spacers on each side so they actually fit just the way I want them to. I think 1" per side would be perfect if I were to buy the spacers brand new but those aren't nearly as common. I'll try to take a front view later so you can see how much they stick out.

Got this idea from Kumar - so here's credit where credit's due, thanks.

Mike i like those wheels, and i'm a REALLY picky wheel guy. Not too bling.

Thanks for the link Doug. I really like the Cat protection from Hanna's sliders and it just plain looks cool! Hoping to pick up a set for Christmas! :D

Clown,
Look forward to seeing the pics. Have fun at SNT this weekend. I wish I was going to meet everyone and have some fun. Maybe might drive out late afternoon on Saturday after work if anything. Either way enjoy yourself out there.

There was a 40th option that included those things discussed (tu-tone seats, Auto A/C, badging, etc.) Those vehicles did not have all options. For example, Junk's 40th does not have the factory rack (lucky guy.) Many/Most 40ths and CE's did not come with the diff lock option. I've heard of one without running boards.

Make that two without running boards!! My brother has a CE that is silver, no running boards, no roof rack and it has lockers. Not sure about the climate control though...

Ok, so I measured from outside edge of tire to outside edge on the set up shown above and got around 76 1/2". These will tuck up into the wheel well without hitting too much and no rubbing up front. My bumpstops are all lowered about 2". The wheel spacer stuff has already been covered in previous threads (I know Kumar's covered it with pics) and I'm pretty content with the setup especially given the cost. Going to go cut some holes in my 40th fender now...

My 40th has lockers without running boards and roof rack... and more 97s - 40ths in particular - I've seen out here had lockers than those that didn't.

You have to wonder if there was some sort of geographic distribution thing with the 40th's.

R -

My 40th too has lockers, no running boards or roofrack.

My 40th has lockers, running boards, roof rack, rear deflector, and it used to have the sunroof deflector before I took it off.

Clown,
If you have time could you still post some detail pics of the sliders on your rig? Will be doing the birfs this weekend finally and after that I am hoping to have the ARB Bull bar in to install. Then will be on to the sliders or rear bumper. Need to save up more and figure out which one to buy first.

Thanks
Steve

Steve,

I have the same sliders as Clownmidget from Ken, but mine are not as long, i.e. don't go into the wheel well as far, and I had ken make mine into air tanks.

I will stop by Evan's on Sunday to drop by his plasma cutter, so you can see them in person.

Joe

Steve, good luck with the birfs. Joe's sliders are nearly identical it's just where the ends meet the front mud flaps and the rear door rubber. But both of ours are different than what Ken makes now since he has the newer design with the plate cutouts. His site has pretty good pics though.

Also, personally I'd go with sliders first before any mod other than tires. The long wheelbase on these trucks will put those rockers in harms way much sooner than hitting a front or rear bumper. Both of my bumpers are essentially ruined but still are on and serve some limited fxn - at the very least the legal one. And you'll be ripping of the bumpers regardless if you intend to go the route you mention above. The big BUT is that you'll have a really hard time dealing with bent/trashed rockers. Even without anything other than some 285's and sliders (with lockers) you'll be amazed where you can go. I wouldn't say the same without sliders unless you are willing to accept body damage. Just my 2 cents but something you might want to consider.

we bought moms 97 40th(with difflocks) new on the lot, it was bare of any stuff when we bought it, we added the running boards(I kept the front mud flaps) roof rack(yeah I know) bug deflector, trailer hitch(Valley). So yes they came with no bolt on crap, that was all installed at the port or the dealership.

If I recall the alarm was an option(that it had), diff locks of course and something else.

don't think the sage color came on anything but the 40th's

Indeed, sage on 40th only. 40th also in 6M1 green, NO other colors.
